New to Body Revolution

Hi All! I've been doing Jillian DVDs off and on for years but wanted to change things up a bit so I ordered Body Revolution. I've never done any training with a resistance band so I'm looking for some guidance on what I need for BR. When I do Jillians other DVDs I usually use 6 or 8lb weights, depending on the exercise. Given this information, would you recommend I start out with a light or a medium resistance band? Also, while browsing resistance bands I noticed there are different handle types, what the best/most comfortable type to work with? Lastly, these things vary in price from $5 to $40, are the more expensive ones really any better? Admittedly, I'm a cheapskate and would rather not pay a lot for a big rubber-band unless the cheaper ones fall apart quickly or break or have other issues. Thanks in advance for your input!

Hi!!! Good luck with Body Revolution!!! I started out with a medium resistance band and it wasn't that bad, except my band was too short for me. I got a Gold's Gym band at Wal-Mart for $14. I didn't like it because the band itself was too big to wrap around my feet twice for some of the workouts. I ended up getting the Jillian Michaels resistance level 1 & 2 bands off of Amazon used for $10 each. I love it because they are thin enough for me to wrap around me feet twice and I can adjust them to my height. Some people don't like them because the handles are big, but honestly, that doesn't bother me and I have small hands. I also like them because they have cloth around the rubber. My hands get really sweaty while working out and in Phase 3 there is a workout where you hold the band in both hands and pull back. On my old one I was scared I'd let it slip and smack myself in the face with it, but I didn't have that worry with the Jillian ones. Good luck!!!0

I have three bands that I bought at Modell's, light, medium and heavy. They only came with one set of handles though, that I have to switch from band to band as I use them. My recommendation is to have available at least two different resistance bands, each with its own set of handles, because what is appropriate for one band exercise might not be what you need for another (too easy or too hard.) I think it is good to have two bands available for easy switchout during the DVDs.0
