So for grins and chuckles my hubby & I decided to do a taste comparison test of a few Protein Drinks. This our personal opinion, listed order of Totally Barffy to yummy!

1. G2 Recover, Chocolate Peanut butter - 270 calories, 20g protein, 46 net carbs
There are no words to describe how disgusting this tasted. I had to rinse my mouth... Total Barf!

2. V8 Protein Shake, Chocolate & Chocolate Raspberry - 200 calories, 12g protein, 31 net carbs.
Chocolate is tolerable, per my hubby, not so in my opinion! Chocolate raspberry (my personal favorite flavor in general) was a Total Barf. Nasty taste and worse aftertaste.

3. Muscle Milk, Chocolate - 230 calories, 25g Protein, 9g net carbs.
Hubby thinks it's OK, but I say Yucky at best. Not so nice aftertaste.

4. EAS Advantage Carb Control, Chocolate & Dark Chocolate - 110 calories, 17g protein, 2 net carbs.
Good flavor! It's not thick or creamy but tastes pretty good! No aftertaste.

5. Core Power Light, Chocolate - 150 calories, 20g protein, 11 net carbs.
A little creamy & a lot yummy! No after taste.

6. Atkins Shake, Dark Chocolate & Milk Chocolate - 160 calories, 15g protein, 2 net carbs.
Yummy! Rich & Creamy. No aftertaste!

So for us, the choice is made based on taste and carbs. Our 2 favorites are Atkins and EAS Carb Control. If I have carbs to spare, I'd grab a Core Power Light.

Whats your favorite (s)?

Missie, you beat me to it....I had the vanilla and chocolate Pure Protein but vanilla was mild in flavor.
My husband would say I gravitated to the chocolate more often than not!

Are Premier Plus or Pure Protein available at places like Meijer or Walmart? I don't remember seeing them there.

Premier Protein chocolate is the ONLY protein shake I've been able to tolerate the taste of post-op. It also has just about the best protein bang for the calorie buck that I've seen - 30g protein in 160 calories and only 2 net carbs! I absolutely love it as a replacement for coffee creamer in my iced coffee. You can buy it at Walmart, and I've seen it at Kroger, but they're much cheaper at Sam's and Costco.
  • Although you can get premier at Sam's Club they don't sell it at Walmart or at least I have never see it there. But so far its my favorite. Especially the vanilla.

I like premier protein, but post-op it is a little thicker than I prefer so I use a lot of the Syntax Nectar protein powders, they mix with water and are more like a juice so they go down a little easier for me. I like the strawberry kiwi best so far :)
  • I've been drinking the EAS myoplex 42g of protein in 17 oz. Have had a hard time getting all my protein in.
