Falling back into old habits...

I had my sleeve back in November of 2013. I feel I have had good results, I have lost 100 lbs. I can't manage to get these last 30 lbs off. I know it's because I have fallen into old habits so I am going to really watch what I am eating. I am hoping that starting back with myfitnesspal will give me some bearing on what I'm doing to myself. I haven't had any regain but I know that I could still be losing right now if I wasn't eating things I shouldn't be. So, time to check myself... Food journaling, exercise and portion control!
Have any of you had similar problems? And how do you check yourself and get yourself back on track?
Thanks,
Geri Lynn

Maintenance is good- the fact that you maintained and didn’t’ gain is excellent. I’m almost a year out and have noticed that my “danger zone” is from about 7-11pm, after dinner, before bed. That’s when I snack. I’m trying to minimize my TV time – the commercials all seem to be for something delicious and sadly, that triggers me into snacking. I listen to a book on Audible or watch a movie on demand w/ no commercials- or sometimes, just go to bed earlier. I also work out in the evenings. I know that’s harder for some people, but I’m less likely to snack if I feel like it’s going to “undo” some burn at the gym. And – when those moments come were I really am hungry and need a little something extra, I try to make it a Dannon Light and Fit Greek yogurt- 80cal w/ protein, or popcorn- 100 cal serving sprayed w/ light butter spray, oregano and maybe some garlic salt- satisfies that snack crave. I started at 325, and about 10 mos later I’m at 198- I don’t want to lose that ground, and with a goal of 175, I’m noticing that it does become much more difficult.

I had my sleeve in April 2014, I started at 267 and now 172, I want to get to 150. I find that logging my food, and exercising keeps me going. I do group exercises and I have found many new friends at the gym, they are all supporting me, and I just feel that I must keep on going because I have their support. Start logging again, get back to exercise and you will lose again. Your weight loss in amazing, but again you want to lose more, so go for it. It gets harder as we get lower, our bodies just don't want to give it up anymore, but I know we can do it if we keep at it. Go for 1 pound loss a week, it isn't much, but it is a loss. I am older and weight just doesn't want to go, I have to mix up my exercise routines to 'shock' my body into losing again. It's hard I know, just keep logging, drink your water, and eat that protein. YOU CAN DO THIS! Set your mind to that goal and GOOD LUCK.
  • Thank you both for your insight. I work a midshift which is from noon until 8 pm. My dinners are always late for my taste and the evening snacking is in full effect. I know if I can curb that, I will be in good shape. You both have had amazing success with your surgeries as well. Good luck to you both! These last 20 to 30lbs are a nightmare to get rid of. Honestly, if I didn't lose another pound.. I wouldn't be unhappy. I am finally comfortable in my own skin again and that alone was worth everything! :)

I'm early enough in the process to not have fallen off the wagon yet, but have learned a lot from the people here who are further along.

Do you have the option of visiting a nutritionist, ideally affiliated with thge program you went through? My insurance will let me go as often as I want at no cost to me. During the pre-op phase it was tremendously helpful in keeping me focussed. Maybe they can help you develop a plan that would let you get to where you want to be.
