I saw this quote and loved it. I've realized this health journey I started 5 years ago after my second kid is such a mental one. I was so focused on losing weight for so long. When I hit plateaus I would get discouraged. But weight seemed to drop even when I didn't change anything. This past year as I dealt with bleeding issues and other health issues related to womenly things, I realized that weight loss is only partly controlled by us. But there are so many other factors. I started focusing on overall health instead and have been so much happier for it. If I end up staying this weight, I will be okay. I'm more excited with my training to see all the amazing things my body can do!
It also reminded me of our little discussion of calling them treats instead of cheats. Such a mental thing, but it has made a huge difference for me!

Yesterday was my first full day of wearing my fitbit. It's addicting to see all the new data I'm getting. I burned a lot more calories then I would have thought I had. I'm beginning to wonder if I was under eating. I'm excited to see the results as I follow more accurate readings. The other thing that is interesting is not knowing how many calories I will have for the day right away in the morning. I think this will cause me to plan on eating smaller meals with more snacks as I burn the calories. :) I got my run in yesterday and made it to the Pilafes class. I even got the kids ready and out the door and there early. (it's an 8am class so that had me worried). I did go out to eat last night, but had the calories for it. My parents came to visit and took us out.

Today was my day to "sleep in" but I ended up waking up at 5:30am. My body has definitely adjusted to the new schedule. I tossed and turned trying to fall back asleep and finally gave up. I figure I'll get some laundry folded before everyone is up. :)

Great thread starter! And I'm excited about your Charge HR, Val! I'm really liking mine. I like to use the activity tracker feature during my workouts so I can see all the stats for that.

April, Ben & Jerry aren't allowed in my house anymore.

Sherry sorry to hear yesterday was frustrating. Hoping you were able to resolve whatever happened.

Yesterday's workout was equivalent of 7 miles - hybrid of elliptical & treadmill (run/walk). Jason wanted me to do 36 minutes on the elliptical (equivalent to three 12-minute miles of running) and 4 miles on the treadmill (interval was run 3/4 mile & walk 1/4 mile). Jason wanted me to split up the elliptical before & after the treadmill portion so I did 18 minutes on the elliptical (went 1.55 miles), 4 miles on the treadmill, then another 18 minutes on the elliptical (1.52 miles). That was my longest sustained cardio session in several months, and it felt really good. If I was going that long outside I would have taken in some calories during my session (if only Gatorade), which somehow it never occurs to me do inside, so somewhere in the 4th mile on the treadmill I could tell I should have brought something with me besides water. Next time I'll know better. I stopped at a convenience store on the way home to put gas in my car and bought a single-serve chocolate milk to drink, which helped.

Today I've got a shoulder workout to do (homework from Jason) and will get in some cardio.

I was at the grocery store on Friday night buying healthy foods when I got a text from Jason, so I sent back a photo of what was in my cart (fruits, veggies, fresh meats). He wrote back "Perfect. That's the Laura I know  "

    Hi all!

val, congrats on the fitbit! That's pretty much the dream tracker!
april, whatever happened between you and Ben and Jerry...it's over now and it'd probably be best if you all just moved on. ;)
Laura, nice cardio session and good job on the healthy shopping (so no more sourpuss txts from trainer :D )

Well last night was exciting, because after a day of troubles, something good finally happened. The guy I bought a running watch from last month, finally came to Athens this weekend (he lives on an island) and I met him last night to pick it up. Yay!

I was expecting rain today and to go to the gym. But with my new running watch and blue skies, I went out for a tiny little run instead. I ended up having to take lots of stops to figure things out on the watch & HR strap and got in a hurry to get home and play with it some more. So I only ran about 25-30min, and when I got home I realized I needed to reset everything on the watch to the default and delete the old history, so I did, knowing I'd delete my run. (Even though the previous owner had only used it about 5 times, I didn't want to accidentally get his runs & skiing in my Garmin Connect account.) (luckily I had my Vivo timing my run too, but it also timed a bunch of time standing in the neighborhood trying to pair the HR on the new watch, haha)

So, anywaaaaaay, that's all I did, besides playing with the watch all day (it could take a lifetime to figure this thing out, b/c it's not just a running watch, it's for adventuring and I think I could find myself out of Timbuktu with the gps features!). Now it looks like rain and maybe even snow is heading toward us for this week, so I guess I'll be hitting the gym this week.
