    Congratulations Chamblisk! That is wonderful. Core strength is so important. My own core strength is the pits, and the 30 day hiit workout I am doing throws some core stuff in there, and I am pathetic, but I figure by the end of the 30 days I will be much less so. Our baby steps really do pay off - way to go!

    Good job chamblisk! I know the feeling all to well...I'm on the floor, now how to get up??? Lol. I'm hoping I too can do a sit up or 3. Taking it slow though after back strain.

    Getting down on the floor and getting back up totally counts for something! That's work!

    Don't worry Marekdds, we all have those days. If you can fight through it, even just a little, you will feel better.

    Ok I really need you guys today! I lowered my calories from 1700 to 1450 and stayed under all week. Granted I only exercised 3 days but didn't even lose .1 lbs! I didn't gain but c'mon!!

    Kjeinl, Don't freak, you often add water weight when you go back to exercising or have a hard work out It is for muscle repair. I should dissipate in a couple days.

    Don't worry about it kheinl, I have also had weeks where I was "a good girl" and the scale didn't budge. It happens - no worries - but seriously aggravating! You will get back on track, you'll see.

    I know. After reading several posts and articles, I've decided to suck it up and move on. Could be because I lowered calorie intake, could be I lost inches (no way to know, need to buy a tape measure) or some other crazy reason. Bottom line: Keep moving forward!

    Good morning, Ladies! Just returned from a quick trip to visit my daughter over the weekend. Too much car time, not enough exercise time. Not to mention, too much good FOOD! Had fun with the girls and dogs, though. Miss the busyness of it all. Made the 300 mile trip through snow and wind with no problem...until I put the van in a snowbank in my own driveway! Just left it overnight and shoveled it out this morning (I would pick the coldest day of the year! Wind chill below -35....brrrr!) There must be an extra calorie burn for that!!
    Time to get back on track. What do you use to motivate yourselves when you know you have really blown your program? And how do you plan ahead for times that you out of town or away from your normal routine so that everything doesn't just fall apart?
  • I had the same issues this weekend chamblisk. Had a 2 1/2 hour drive to my daughters, spent the weekend babysitting my grandkids while they had a tournament. One is 4 months and one is 11 years old so no real exercise there. Lots of sitting in the car and lots of cuddling. What I did do was bring a few of my go to snacks, breakfast and lunch. I had their breakfast one day, and mine the other. I had my lunch one day and theirs the other. I had my snacks all the time and ate both of their dinners but did watch my portions. It made me feel that I was somewhat more in control. I had the same type of weather as you, -25 with lots of wind and snow. Unfortunately my landlord did all the shoveling before I got home so no burn there for me. Will get on the treadmill today and get a good walk in. Have a great week...time to get back on track!

    Lucky Grandma! My kids have informed me that all my "grand-kids" will have 4 legs and a tail. I guess we have time...I was rather a late-bloomer myself :) Hope you enjoyed those cuddles!!
    I will try to remember to bring "my" snacks next time. Or pick up something locally .... she at least lives in an area with a Wal-Mart 1/2 mile down the road!

    I guess I am lucky, my girls work out a lot and eat healthy. I am the bad influence b/c I love to bake. I am always invited for walks/hikes. My daughter I spend most time with is a pescetarian. I bring or buy healthy snacks when I am with my son and my grandboo likes to go for walks or I will jog/walk a bit. My fat pics keeps me motivated. Getting fat again is not an option. Exercise is not an option, but a requirement. I don't have the weather issues that some of y'all have. If where I need to go isn't more than a mile or so, I walk. If I mess up, I don't dwell, can't change it, just move on.

    WhooHoo! Just put on a pair of jeans that I was not able to get over my thighs in November!! I am sticking to the once-a-month weigh and measure I decided on when I started this journey but that is proof that things are looking better! Because I want this to be a lifestyle change, and not a diet, I am trying to build new habits slowly. So far, so good!

    Congratulations chamblisk! Isn't it a great feeling of validation? You're doing great and your method is definitely working. I have a whole bag of "I will not throw this out because I will fit into it again" clothes. I was able to switch out a pair of "overweight" jeans which are now too baggy to wear for a pair of "still overweight but less so" jeans. Such a good feeling.

    Way to go chamblisk. I still have my "skinny" (lol) clothes hanging in my closet. I refuse to put them away cuz I know they'll fit again soon! That's my motivation.

    Well, let's see if anyone is still peeking at this page. Opinion: if you have a cup of tea or coffee, which has to be made with a cup of water, does that count as a cup of water? I think it should, but then again it is not straight water anymore. Thoughts?

    Hi Beth, I'm here - and it counts for me! Mind you, I don't actually log water or coffee (black) or herb/fruit tea (also without milk). I'm a great believer in being guided by the colour of your pee (sorry, TMI).

    LOL! Very funny Badger! Thanks, I don't drink a lot of coffee and tea, but when I do I count is toward my 8 cups of water a day.

    When I had the chance, I also read up on the latest information and agree with kheinl; it counts. Good to know since I am behind the times and was still concerned with the diuretic effects of caffeine....guess that doesn't outweigh the benefits of putting the fluid in. I tend to load up on coffee in the morning, and now I can use that as part of my hydration, especially after exercise. I may not change the way I count it, however. I need to drink more plain water and that little glass at the bottom of the MFP page gives me a nudge now and then.

    Thanks Kathi. I think every little bit helps. I try to have 2 cups of water before I leave the house for work. I'm not a big coffee drinker. I prefer "fake" coffee - you know, the frozen chocolately kind that is more like a shake than coffee. Since that kind has so many calories I tend to stay away from it, but I do make iced coffee at home on occassion, and that was why I was wondering. I also drink iced tea for the benefits of the green tea and to keep me awake if possible during my 2:00 PM slump, and that is daily. Add it up, and it's a lot of water, so I'm glad it counts.
