Emotional eating

I know a lot of us are emotional eaters. I'm having a terrible time with it this week. My question is, for those of you that have been at this for awhile, does the emotional eating ever subside? I know it's a bad habit to break. Any tips would be great.
I know tomorrow is a new day and I try to keep from eating the bad stuff, but it get to that *kitten* it point (excuse the language) and end up giving in.

From my experience, some days are like that. If I know I am not hungry, I try drinking water or brushing my teeth. Sometimes a walk around the block is good. Sometimes I give in, but I don't beat myself up over it. This past weekend my son was taken to the emergency room; ended up 8 hours later with an appendectomy. Yes, I was up over 36 hours and ate/drank all kinds of carbs to help stay awake in the hospital. Talk about emotional eating! I tried to get myself back on track over the weekend, but still ate chocolate - I did log it. :-) Today I finally caught up on my sleep and am finally back on track. I doubt I will ever conquer being an emotional eater... I am happy to recognize the issue when it occurs and try to work around it or simply minimize the impact. I'm sure you'll find your way, too.0

Today was a train wreck. Won't go into details, but I processed that while I used to "solve" these hurts by eating a pizza, I really wanted to stay true to my goals. I have a plan to lose 100 pounds this year. No one is going to take that away from me.
I went to yoga instead.0 -
It's that turning point I want to hit where I say to myself....don't eat that, go DO this. I've given myself the excuse that I'm still new to the eating right and working out process, but I can't do that. I know I can't do that.
Prayers and hugs to the both of you for your trials right now.0 -
You're not alone. Old habits die hard and there are many times a day that I want to reach for my old comfort foods. I find the only thing that works for me is to not have any of those foods around and to have other options available. This way I can still put something in my mouth but it won't set me back.
Plan ahead and have healthy options around you. Stop and consciously think about the choice you're making. I try to think about how good I'll feel when I get in bed tonight knowing that I had a successful day. That usually pushes me to make a good decision. We all fall down at times. Don't beat yourself up, just get right back at it. You got this!!0 -
I find that I have less of this when I am well rested. I try to make myself go to bed on time whenever I can!0
