Week 5 day 3- I did it!

I am so proud that I jogged for the 20 minutes without stopping. 6 weeks ago I was puffed out after a 60 second interval, today I wasn't out of breath after the 20 minutes! My legs were aching though.

I am also very proud that as of this morning, since starting c25k and MFP 6 weeks ago, I have lost 10kg (22 pounds!)

  • WOW well done, im on week one and hope to God i will be saying the same in five weeks!!

Well done on the running. Given that you've got a very aggressive deficit there, nearly twice what MFP should be allowing you, be cautious about underfuelling yourself and risking injury.
  • I'm sticking to my daily allowance (set to 1kg loss per week) but not eating back many of my exercise calories. I've also had at least one social occasion each week where I've had too much to eat and drink. I really don't think I'm being too aggressive, rather I have a lot to lose (start weight was 252 pounds) and the first few weeks were big water weight losses. Thanks for the concern though.

Amazing! It's not nearly as bad as it seems. :)

Way to go!!! It is a great feeling of accomplishment to complete a run that, when we first began, would be seemed impossible. :)

I couldn't do it!! I had to take 2 breaks. Then I just continued on w program. Now just did week 6 day 3 and had to take 1 break at the 15 min mark. It is frustrating because I am not sore at all, it is my cardiovascular limit. I am 3 months quit smoking and have lost 30 lbs. This is a huge success, as I could barely jog 30 seconds in the summer. I am going to keep trying the 22 minute run until I can do it. My 5K isn't until May 8, 2015.

Just slow down and keep telling yourself you can do, and you will! It really is a mind game at this point.

ETA: You've got plenty of time to be ready for your 5k in May.

That is a huge success! Your lung function would still be decreased from smoking, I'm sure. I quit 8 years ago, and I definitely wasn't running 3 months later!

I was wrong on my previous post as well, I was up to my 22 min run. I did that this morning, looks like week 7 is 25 mins each day. It's going to be tough!

I finished w5d3 this morning! So happy, I did the day 2 run twice as I was sick wed and today I thought I would try to do at least 10 min straight and when I got to 10 I thought well I'll just try for a little more. When I got to 15 I thought to myself, your going to be angry if you don't finish. And I managed to finish it! To anyone worried about this run, I was worried too and I just went out and did it, trust the program and good luck.

Thanks for all the encouraging words. Well I DID IT!! I did week 7 day 1 with NO breaks for the 25 min run! I am super happy :)

    How is everyone's progress going??

Just did w6d3 without stopping! I did struggle and I wanted to stop but I didn't. I am a little worried about the 25 min runs.

Just go a bit slower, if you have done the training, you can do the 25 min run. The issue is in your head. We all get it, I had it when I did c25k, I now get the same thoughts about 16 mile runs, it's natural, you are worried, but you can do this. Just trust in the programme.

Thanks for your advice. I ran almost most of it at 4.2 and then in the last 3 min I had to drop to 3.9. I'm paranoid if I go any slower I won't be actually jogging anymore..

If it's any encouragement, every single workout I did I felt like I wouldn't make it...and every single one I *just* barely did. If you do your 3 a week, you WILL get there. ;)

You are doing great, you are training your body to move to a different motion to walking, your are teaching your mind that it is wrong about what you can do. Keep at it, you will get there, trust the programme, go slower if you have to. More speed will come with more running. Good luck.

Just found this group last night and found this thread. I was so worried as today was my week 5 day 3 run, but I took everyone's advice and slowed my speed down to make sure I could achieve it. Thanks everyone for the advice I made it slow and steady!! I've lost 11 lbs since starting MFP and C25K!!! :D
