Several top radio hosts were blasting at a newly issued report Friday- USGov forcing us to support bigAgra by "eating low on the food chain", and avoiding fats..nothing new here!
2020 healthypeople.gov promotes--you guessed it LOW fat foods, LEAN meats.. the only smart bit is "avoid sugar"..(how? it's in everything!)
report quote:
* "Carbohydrates provide 4 calories per gram and are the PRIMARY Source of calories for most Americans. pg 15: Adults (19 years +) eat carbs: 45–65%-protien 10-25% fat:20-35%" *
" ...some protein products, particularly some animal-based sources, are high in saturated fat, so non-fat, low-fat,or lean choices should be selected."
++++++++++++
It began in the 70's with Presidential Nutrition Policy groups pushing grains and corn, then soy came along. LCHF diets from the 50's were dismissed, and the book "The Jungle" a novel exposing meat processing industry** scared everyone…and cheap grains were promoted.
Looking at the "myhealthyplate" image (see my ID pic) shows a whopping 30%+ carbs daily, 60 carbs per meal... minimum.
What took us from 15% Obese in 1970 to whopping 33.9% Obese in 2010? One guess.
Many doctors and researchers are publishing studies that don't support High carb/Low fat diets.

Thats disappointing, but not overly surprising. After watching cereal killers I have to agree with it being driven by subsidies and whats cheaply and easily available.0
