I am so confused. I'm a 49 yr old female. I started at 241 a year ago and lost 42 lbs so far. Over the winter I got off track but didn't gain any weight and was able to maintain my loss. Now I am ready to get back on track but my confusion comes with whether I should still focus on a calorie deficit with added weight training, or leave the weights until I lose more weight. I want to be lean and strong into my fifties, but I want to be realistic in what I should be doing and what to expect. Also, I haven't been focused on "clean" eating, but feel I should add more whole foods and cut down on processed foods and refined carbs. There just seems to be so much "noise" out there and now that I have a start I want to take the next best step. I need some guidance!

    1) Start lifting now.
    2) I think it's a good idea to eat a diet predominantly composed of whole foods.
    but
    3) I think in most cases it's probably a good idea to not take #2 too far, to the point that you're becoming AFRAID of sugar or you're taking a 100% elimination approach to things.

    Thanks SideSteel,

Just needed a little direction. I'm not in a rush so I'll tweak my diet and add some cast iron.
