hi I'm Kylie I was diagnosed with PCOS in 2004 aged 17 I have one child who is 7 conceived with weight loss and the help of clomid, really would like to have a sibling for him however after 5yrs trying and massive weight gain it's time to be in control of my life again, I probably need to lose 30-40 kg to be considered for fertility treatment again and I am finding it so hard to stay motivated and after yo-yo dieting for years I am at my heaviest and am miserable, which is why I have given this a go..

I am trying for my first but I'm currently obese. I've lost so far 7% of my total body weight. After going 6 months without a period I finally got one around the middle of May after 3 months of my new life. Now we're nearing the end of June but I've only been at this weight loss journey for 3 months now so I must be patient. I've noticed less stomach problems. I am 23 and I am 5 feet and 1/2 an inch short lol and currently weigh 165 lbs. I want to lose around 40 lbs. I started taking a prenatal multivitamin a few weeks ago. I take Tylenol for frequent headaches and migraines but I am not on any other medication for anything and I don't have a good Gynecologist so I am thinking of going to a naturopath who knows about PCOS. I want to try to conceive naturally first. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! I also may be able to help.

I wasn't overweight when I got pregnant with my first child, but the PCOS was still an obstacle. Its so discouraging and frustrating. My husband, sister and I all did Weight Watchers in between my first and second child. Even though I HATED going to weekly meetings, it kept me on task. The flexibility of the program allowed me to sort of follow a diabetic diet and I lost the weight that I needed to lose -- of course, the PCOS and insulin resistance and raising two boys and working and blah, blah, blah, have now taken their toll. :) Keep up the good work. Log your food and look for ways to improve what you eat. Avoid processed food when you can. Get physical activity when you are able. Good luck!

I'm also trying for my first. I'm not technically overweight, but I'm on the upper edge of the weight range for my height. I'm really hoping that working with my diet will help me, but I also started testing with a reproductive endocrinologist (that's currently on hold because my husband lost his job and is now looking for a new one).

My fertility drugs did not help until I lost weight. I used a carb spreading diet I found in a pics book. Essentially you calculate based on your weight height activity and goals how many calories and thus carbs you need in a day and then divide it up into meals and snacks. It helps avoid blood sugar spikes and cravings. I also became lactose intolerant around the same time. 50lbs and 6 months later I got pregnant with twins. This was 6 years in the waiting!

I'm in the same boat. I am 25, DH and I have been TTC for almost 5 years. I have PCOS, and I need to lose 80 lbs to be at a healthy weight. I saw fertility specialists who recommended starting treatment but I want to lose some weight first in hopes to do it naturally. just started this journey, but I'm hopeful, I've read a lot of success stories about women who have lost weight and gotten pregnant. I also read the PCOS diet book, very interesting. Low carb seems to be the most effective, I know I know easier said than done!

Fertility treatments are on of the most stressful things I have ever gone through. I have done 2 treatments of IUI and the last one too but unfortunately had an early loss. I now want to focus on getting some of my excessive weight off to see if that will help in my treatments. I wish you all the best in your journey......
