Running Injuries- Impact on Training?

I'm training for my 3rd 1/2 in April. I ran 6 miles on Friday and then approximately 9 miles on Saturday. I now have a dull ache around my left knee- all signs point to runner's knee. I'm going to rest for a few days and see if that helps. I'm very concerned that my training schedule may suffer. Have you experienced runner's knee and, if so, what was your recovery time?

My knees & ankles ache after long runs because of old hockey injuries. I learned to ice down my lower legs after any run of 8 miles or more and that has all but solved the lingering pain. It still will ache after the run but will be gone by morning. I bought several of the longer ace wraps and use 3 ice packs and wrap the inner shin, ankle and knee. I'd get the gel ice packs so they conform better to your leg. 15-20 minutes of icing immediately after a run and before you shower is best.

Thanks for the tips- I'll be sure to try icing down my poor ol' knees after longer runs.
