Any cooks/foodies?

I'm wondering if I'm the only one who loves to cook? I'm kind of a foodie. I don't go out to eat that much because it is expensive and I'm dairy/gluten intolerant, but I do love trying new restaurants/dishes. Now I'm balancing keeping my food simple with having treats/food adventures. Mostly my husband and I cook things from scratch at home, but we don't always cook the same things. Makes tracking a bit more challenging. I also feel like a bit of a weirdo in fitness/dieting circles.

    I'm a massive, massive foodie and I LOVE to make new recipes or try to find healthier alternatives to things I love (have I mentioned my passion for oat and raisin cookies? Or cookies in general?)

    I'm so bad that a couple of days ago I bought a slow cooker on a whim. I'm convinced I'll never use it but I'm trying to tell myself I will haha. you probably know this already, but in case you don't: Pinterest is the foodie bible!

    Yup. I LOVE food and cooking and going out. I use the recipe maker on here all the time and have a ton of recipes. I still make the same things but I make sure to eat smaller portions (which is fine as I have more leftovers).

    I agree. Slow cookers are the best. Pinterest is awesome and there's another app called Yummly. You can find some good things on there as well. I find that it's a little easier to cook because you know exactly what's in the meals but at restaurants it's a bit challenging

    I also love to cook and bake.

    I purchased a slow cooker recently - it´s pretty uncommon/unknown in germany and I love it. Best ragout a la bolognese ever!

    Pinterest is also a great source for new ideas. First I wasn´t very eager to try those recipes since we have different measurements, but I have cups now, so it´s fine.

    I must admit though that I was pretty dissapointed with a lot of those so called skinny recipes for baking (cooking is fine, and I also think it´s easier to cook "healthy", skinny whatever, than baking). All of the recipes for baking I tried sucked balls, sorry. It does NOT taste the same or even better and I CAN taste it´s skinny/healthy. I apparently miss
    imagination...

    Of course I am open to suggestions, approved recipes to try again, but until I find something I just do it like mymodernbabylon and just eat less of the good stuff :-)

    We only eat out usually one day a week, and we cook a lot because we want leftovers for lunches and nights we don't feel like preparing something. We use our crockpot at least once a week as well.

    I try to cook a new recipe at least once a week. We have our favorite go-to meals that are pretty simply to track. If my boyfriend is making the meal, I have to make sure I ask him how much of which ingredients he used.

    Serving sizes are usually the tough part of tracking home cooking for me. I throw it all together and then I have to eyeball it to figure out a set serving size (usually a cup for soups and pasta salads). I think I might be underestimated the number of servings, but rarely do I overestimate.

    I love using Pinterest and have found some awesome recipes on there. My two favorites:

    I cook dinner every night--the recipes I collect these days include the nutrition information so I can log them. I use the recipe maker for my older/ staple recipes and that works, too. Of course you can control the fat, sugar, etc. when you make it yourself. I've recently been baking--breads, and I found a cookie cutter website I like (with fabulous cookie recipes). there are some substitutions for lower fat but often they don't taste as good to me. So, instead of using low fat options, I try to eat a reasonable amount of those treats. It helps that there are four of us to share the goodies.

    Yay! I'm so glad I'm not the only one. I have a slow cooker, but we weirdly just end up using it to keep soup warm once we make it. The settings make it seem like on high it should cook things in about 4 hours, but after 4 hours things still aren't done!

    I love roast vegetables! Lately we have been roasting broccoli. Yum!

    @ladi903 is that wrong? English is not my mother tongue, but I was pretty sure it´s something one can say :-D Or do you mean that this is not the right place to say something like that? help me out here, pliiiiies ;-)

    @argardengrrrl not everything needs the same amount of time in a crockpot and not every crockpot needs the same time for the same dishes. It´s a bit trial and error, although up to now everything I tried went fine, just one thing (lentil soup) needed a bit longer than I had estimated...But it´s worth trying. I made a great pumpkin soup, the flavour was so strong, yummy!
