Happy Sunday and Daylight Savings Time!

Morning peeps. It's days like this that I wished I lived in Arizona. This time change thing should be abolished.
Ok, time to get up, weigh in and vlog.0 -
Jen, I used to think AZ was the crazy one with no time change. But now I'm in full agreement with you. There really is no need for this. And it actually is bad for circadian rhythms having the extra time at night and less in am.
Nice walk with hubby in midst of carb night. Tried an organic non-GMO cereal for first spike and discovered you can have yummy cereal. Or you can have non-GMOS cereal. You can't have both. Pretty obvious the research and development the big food guys do around hyperpalatability. That the small organic type folks don't. Which is both good and really bad.
Did a gluten free carb Nite. Baked GF coconut/macadamia brownies from scratch ( gotta freeze rest) for a brownie sundae before bed. That was good. And tried out a new Thai place for dinner. So, so good. I'm boring just had chicken pud Thai. Which I love and knew would have a good glycemic index with the rice noodles. (And now wondering if probably had gluten from msg. Oh well, at this point I'm not worrying about the small stuff)
Heron did you make the biscuits? Food for 40. Holy crap.0 -
Happy Sunday. Not sure if it's sinus drainage, a bug, or some of the junk I have been eating but I have felt like crud about the last half of the week. Probably a combo of all 3.
Tomorrow is back to strict NSNG for me.0 -
Kim, your carb Nite sounds delish!
Btw there was a phd student project where they went out and tested cereals. Well turns out that the "GMO free" still contain the GM gene and General Mills cereal (they tested 3 different ones) don't. lol remember General Mills made a pledge a few years Ago to be GMO free by a certain year. Guess they are actually keeping their promise.
On my way to the BBQ. Crazy amount of food packing. And I didn't get around to making the biscuits. I underestimated how long it took to skewer 10lb of chicken lol
I made 10lbs of chicken satay, 6 slabs of ribs, 10 lbs of slider, pecan bars. Not to mention BBQ sauce and peanut dip from scratch.
I'm tired and a little high strung right now because I'm about an hour behind. Thanks a lot daylight effing savings time.
But it's a beautiful sunny California day and I'm gonna have fun and enjoy the food!0 -
Daylight effing savings Heron... Ha!
Your food sounds amazing.
Kevin, I'm trying to get back on track myself. 4 days in Mexico + 5 days in Vegas = my dang pants don't fit... Again!!
not going near a scale. I must go see if anyone started the no-scale challenge!
Jen & Kim: keep veggin out! Just bought some Brussel sprouts & a spaghetti squash!
Happy week guys!0 -
Hello all! Had a wonderful time with mark this weekend! No scale challenge... Am so in! Here is to my new clothes and the fact that 8,000 steps on my fit bit is my low day now0

Happy Monday Folks! woke up to a Green flag HRV of 80.44 Started my Stronglifts today, but stopped at first Zercher Squat after warm up, got the bar under load and felt a tweak in my right side outer hip flexor, Did not even attempt the squat; Re racked the bar and re thought the session. Did some Compound Dumbbell work, some inversion table, and some body weight work with a half mile walk to finish. Will see how I feel in the AM before attempting next lift session.
Heron - It's your "Bottom line" in your thread that counts as the Bottom Line for the Day. Hope it was indeed a fun day.
Carol - How was the Recon? What do you have to report? Did you find a good Hangout/meetup spot? Do they have Karaoke on a Friday Night?
Jen - I'm the other way round on DST, I want the daylight in the evening for my D ward Guys. Much easier to get them out after dinner when the sun is still shining.
Kevin Back in the Saddle again. I'm thniking of doing another Whole 30 since I picked up 20 lbs in my smoking cessation. Thinking of the Ides of March to start, Are you in? Maybe we can get Carol to Call out JT and get him in as well. NSNG is pretty close already to W30, just a tweak for ya really.
Kelly - Roll on it I count my floor on Fitbit as 10K, but on a designated Rest Day don't care how low it goes.
Have Fun Folks another week of fun awaits. Keep on Jammin'!

Whole 30 sounds good hammer! I'm in0
-
I had a carb meal (ok two actually) this weekend, hash browns for breakfast and then Cafe Rio for lunch. Felt like a slug, and then DST hit.. Detest that DST thing. I hear Colorado has a bill to ban it as well.. Indiana was a State that did not do it as well, and then went on it in 2006 or so I believe.
Scale is gone, just using the tape for the next two months. I am addicted to that thing, even though I KNOW it does not tell the whole story.
Really want to get more walking in. That foot of snow we had last week has now mostly melted creating muck on the roads and trails. A few more days of sun and it should be dry enough to get moving. Muck is almost worse than the ice we get.0 -
I'm tired, I was the doing all the grilling yesterday in the sun. Which I didn't expect to have to do. Arturo has to stay with the foster so I stood all day grilling. Call me old fashion but no man offered to help?!!! Ok one did, kinda more like watch the ribs while I man the other grill. Then he didn't realize that the coals were out.
Not going to weigh myself for 2 weeks till I reset.

Mark - Lol too funny! Yes sweetie we totally crashed this last Saturday. Fingers and toes crossed we get to take the girls out this weekend! :-)0
-
Hey everybody. I'm back after a day of being mostly horizontal. I didn't ear much yesterday. Feeling better today so back on track (hopefully).
John, I don't care what the heck time we use - just stick to ONE!!!!
Heron, sounds like you were very busy Sunday. What? A grill going and no man offered to take over? How is that possible?
Kelly, I try to get 10,000 steps in a day which isn't a problem at work. On the weekend, I haven't been as good at it (that will change though now that spring has showing itself).

Happy Tuesday Folks! Hope all is well with all of you.
Jen - Glad to read you're feeling better. Looks like whatever you had is rolling in down here. Staying home today. too risky to travel.
Heron - yeah no guy volunteers for a grill? HUMBUG!

Thought I'd Share this Rhonda Patrick Talk

It's Wednesday. That is all.0

This is the first year I've really noticed that daylight savings time cheats us out of good morning daylight. Guess finally getting circadian rhythms and cortisol cycles in control, going to bed on time and walking up at decent morning hour will do that.
At our annual convention this week. Always a great event. Our distributor partners from across the U.S. typically 3500-4000 attendees, probably 1000 MillerCoors. Rest distributors. Last night was the employee only reception at the NASCAR hall of Fame. This morning is a Women in Beer breakfast. That should be good. Oh we're in Charlotte, NC. Was great!!!!! To jaunt in short sleeves yesterday. A nearly 18k steps kinda day.

Cool share John!
Sorry to hear some of you have been fighting a bug. The boyfriend and I had a cold, but thank goodness it passed quickly. Allergy season should be here soon.
Kim, Congrats on the convention and SHORT sleeves!!! As for the time change, it usually takes me about a week to adjust, but this year I have been waking up early (around 4 am). My sleep has been out of whack. The boyfriend says I have been sleep walking and popping up in bed talking like mad. So, even though I am passing out early every night, it is why I don't feel rested in the morning. Thank goodness for warmer temps and being able to leave work at night and there still being some light. It helps!
Once again, back in the saddle again. I swear I should have joined the team Fat2FatterHQ. I have successfully gained weight. My calorie intake has been low, but wasn't working out. Not giving up the fight. Started doing a Strong Curves program and I like it. No runs, since last time, but there will be more.
Happy Hump Day!0 -
Happy Wednesday Folks. Think the Bug peaked yesterday afternoon, home one more day, plenty to do around here too tired to do it.0
-
Went for a hike yesterday, mud be damned. I needed it after a frustrating emergency customer call. Overall was not too bad, and I got really close to 4mph for the walk. Kelly is making me jealous with all her walking and blowing me out of the park! Still not happy with the time change as I really want to get walking in the morning and evening, and it is not there yet. We were before.... arrrgh.0
-
Busy gardening. I'm still trying to figure a good routine for the dogs and I. Kira, my older dog doesn't like waking up before 8am for a walk. She is 14 so I don't blame her plus she was used to the winter times. But it's funny when I had to drag her by her collar in the morning to get off her comfy bed and trying to be quiet so I don't wake Arturo.
Finally got a good night's sleep last night. Took a bunch of natural sleep aid. I've been feeling run down lately and I missed working out hard.
So I am ready to get back on the horse after a 11 lb gain. I know it's not real 8-9lb of it is water. I'm not freaked out or sad by it. At this point I'm just "eh, oh well, just keep chipping away at the lbs again" whilst fantasizing the notion that I will be lean some day.
I am very excited that I am going to be able to eat a lot of my own produce again.0 -
Glad to see everyone is doing well as they can0
-
'FRIDAY'!!!! I know, not for everybody but it is for me. Not a great night sleep last night. Only positive was I actually woke up later than I have in months! Maybe, MAYBE I can finally get this sleeping thing in order. I ran out of lavender oil Tuesday, which I'm sure is part of why I didn't sleep very well last night. I also need to get outside now that the weather is springlike. Must get back to jaunting! Kim is kicking my butt on that front.0
-
Heron! Those guys should be ashamed! But I bet all 40 of those people were happy that you had control of the food. Did you get any pictures of the event?
John, I'm sorry to report that I didn't do much recon work. The sad truth is that I was kind of locked away in my hotel room a lot of the time doing my masters work. Brad came for the last two nights and we didn't get out around Bally's but just to the hotel is right across the street.
I got to see the water dancing at Bellagio's, and we walk through the forum shops at Caesar's Palace and over to the Venetian to see the gondola boats. We walked back through Paris and that was it. But the conference was phenomenal for learning and I think I've decided to pursue my doctorate. So much for a light at the end of the tunnel. Now it's a teeny teeny tiny light way off in the distance.
I love all the steps you guys are getting even thru the mud. Get some for me. I'm doing a whole bunch of sitting these days.
Have a happy Thursday (Friday Jen).

Happy Thursday Folks. Heading back to work today. Hope all is well with all of you.
Heron Happy Gardening, this weekend is the weekend I load my patio pots for the season, Tomatoes and one other I haven't decided yet.
Carol - No worries glad you had a good time and a productive Conference. It'll be koo-el calling ya Doc so roll on it.
Jen happy Weekend for ya. Time to Roll.
All righty then Folks gotta get weavin'. Get your Jam on and move out smartly.0 -
Jen, I hear you on the sleep thing. On that note, hemp oil totally works! I forgot to take it last night and I did not sleep well. I woke up feeling like I haven't slept much.
Carol you are amazing! Pursuing a doctorate is hard very very very hard. But it sounds like you have the right mindset and support system to do it. I wish you success! Woman, how do you find time? You must have amazing time management skills. I need to learn from you.
Another day of digging dirt..0 -

Noting to do with food but I think I've finally found my EDC bag. Arturo bought me one that is functional (and tactical looking)but it doesn't go with most of my clothes. And I've tried to work with that bag (6 months) but it just doesn't suit my needs and aesthetic. I've been experimenting with messenger bags and big purses and the other day on the subway I saw this mom with this cute diaper bag the brand is jujube that has convertible strap that allows the bag to be carry as a tote/messenger or backpack. Plus it has all these functional, insulated compartments and D rings. Not to mention wide comfy memory foam straps. But after some research I am also interested in the skip hop studio brand. It makes so much sense now, I mean look at moms, those diaper bags are basically EDC bags for their babies lol. They are also built to withstand a lot of of abuse.
Who here has an EDC (every day carry) bag?0 -
Happy Friday Folks! We won the BBall Tournament last night. I played when we were 30 points ahead, or the last two minutes of the halves. Final Score 81-48.
Can't help ya Heron don't do the Bag thing.
Quick Turn around to work today have our local Elks Club Veterans Art Competition today. I've been our Arts Coordinator for the last 4 years and turned it over to one of he Therapists this year. But gonna make sure it's a smooth transition and got to get a couple of my guys on the Ward stuff put together for the show. Gonna be a long but a great day.

Way behind on this feed.
Heron, I have often thought of getting one of those diaper bags for an EDC bag. You can't even tell they are diaper bags. I love the organization. I currently have a bag that is kind of a briefcase/messenger bag. I like the compartments, but it is awkward and ugly. As for your earlier post, you should know this because we don't always realize these things. When I see and hear you, I see you as a fit, healthy gal and I dream of getting to where you are. I am in awe:) Hang in there Heron. (((hugs)))
Jen and the fellow people lacking sleep, I am with you. I think I will try some natural sleep pills. I have been hitting the sack early, but waking up exhausted. All week I have been sleepwalking and last night I woke up sitting on a chair in a room I never enter. Kind of scary. Perhaps this is why I am waking up with bruises. Heck, maybe I am sleep eating AND cleaning up my crime scene after:) Problem with that is we don't have any unhealthy food in the house, so I would be eating clean. I SO want to blame this weight on something! haha
WOOHOO on the game John! Have a wonderful Arts Competition. Cool!0 -
Heron and Kris, you have to hang in there as I am hanging in there and commiserating with you both electronically.. oh that sounds bad...
Heron, I am also not a big EDC bag kind of person, as I don't believe in off body carry. That said, I do have bags in each vehicle (backpacks and a tote). Those bags you are talking about are awesome, and should hold up over the long haul. They are also innocuous looking.
John.. great game!! I am art challenged
10 more hours to go get Kelly. I think some hiking is in store for this weekend..0
