Lifting weights----need help

Okay since turning over this new leaf and trying something different, such as eating more and lifting. Mentally and physically I am used to doing cardio and now I am incorporating more weight lifting and not as much cardio and it seems awkward. So instead of running an hour, I cut back to 30-40 minutes. But does anyone have a kick butt weight routine. I'm bothered because I'm not getting that burnout feeling after I lift my weights like I did when I was running. Please Help!!!

Stronglifts 5x5 - easiest beginner programme and you can progress quickly and get strong.0

Thanks. I will definitely look & research both and see what is a better fit. Cause as of right now, I'm just using a routine from Bodybuilding.com, but I'm not going really feeling it. Now I know NROLFW is a book, however what about Stronglift 5x50

And be aware that here at the start, you should be on lighter weights nailing your form, so it should be easier and it's not hard.
But when you get to the point that you are almost failing on the last rep and giving it your all - you'll feel wiped out.
- And have fun with stairs the next day too.0 -
Yeah, I want that feeling that I had a kick butt workout. After I run, I have a euphoric feeling, like a load has been lifted but not getting that with weights. But I will definitely take it slow. No injuries needed here. I just wanna make sure that I'm pacing myself while pushing myself.0

Ah, that feeling. You may never get it from lifting.
May get a similar, and perhaps when felt, better, feeling.
But usually not the cardio one.
You can still run right after the lifting workout, as fast as your tired legs will drag you.
And the great thing there is, despite tired legs not able to push as hard, it'll feel harder because they are wiped out, and you way get that feeling with a shorter run.0 -
You might get that feeling once you hit the really heavy weights, but it's not going to be exactly the same. I feel amazing and STRONG after lifting which I like a lot more than anything else.0

Thanks! I'm excited for this change. It's even hard for me to "rest" on my rest days.0

I like to swim hard after lifting. I don't usually last more than a half hour but it feels so good and the combination of the two is amazing. My days off I only walk the dog though...........I'm no runner.
You're gonna love lifting. It's very empowering for a woman to be strong. I'm 64 and can't believe the changes it's made in my body. At your age it'll be phenomenal!0 -
Whoa... Lady that is awesome. Next I wanna complain, I'm gonna say is Ms. Luluinca can do handle, then I can too. You Rock!!!0

I've been running 5k after i lift my weights for the day. Why not do both! I'm dead after all that! Once you start really moving heavy weight, you'll start loving it! Instead of the euphoric high from running, you get this awesome pump that makes you feel like a bada**!0

That's awesome. But how in the world are you eating back all the calories. That was the only reason I was cutting back on so much cardio. I love running, anywhere from 5k-10k, but starting this new plan, I couldn't see myself eating those calories back.

I didn't get fat by not eating lots of calories - I wish I could eat more. BUT even now I eat chocolate and every other kind of food I want...I just look at portion size. There's a girl on MFP that I'm friends with who eats a minimum of 3000 calories daily - and she's sad when she does a cut. It's easy to eat that much. TREATS!0

I think I've been at 5k every workout for a little over a week now. It seems to be what I needed because my body finally feels like it's being pushed again! But I am struggling to find balance with the calories....its not like I'm not hungry, its just who has time to eat a hundred times a day! But I guess I just have to if I want to keep up this pace.
Here's some meals that are easy and helping me up my calories:
PBJ
canned tuna
Cereal (something substantial)
Protein bars
Oatmeal
And if you have any other food ideas let me know!
