So, when I used to eat all of the things, even when I was "dieting" I did a lot of baking, I like to bake and I am very very good at it. I never kept any of the stuff after I baked it, I would say 90% went to work to get eaten by coworkers.

I have not been baking since starting LCHF, even though there are keto friendly recipes, a lot of them require ingredients I don't have and that can be a bit pricey. It hasn't really bothered me as I don't crave the stuff anymore anyway.

This weekend my two good friends are having a bridal shower. Rhonda and Katherine have been together for a very long time and now that it is legal in FL, they are going to get married YAY! Well...I have been volunteered to make cake pops for the shower. CAKE POPS for the love of f$%#!! I don't go out much due to my health, I don't talk about my woe or really talk to many people at all anymore, so they did not know.

Before you tell me "just don't eat any".... Have you ever made something to serve to others and not eaten any? If you have, you are a lousy cook.

I know that one cake pop or even two will not send me up 10 pounds...I am just afraid of the cravings starting all over again. I will have to just do my best I guess, because I can't tell them no.

It sounds like you've been LCHF for a while. If so, you will be very suprised at how "not good" that cake pop tastes.

If anything, instead of triggering cravings again, it will probably strengthen your resolve.
A plate of fries and brown gravy looks oh so good, until I deal withthe aftermath ...

Hmmm..I didn't think about that...you may be right. I have been LC for months now. I am making myself a nice juicy burger before I start, hoping that will help too LOL

You're not a lousy cook if you don't eat what you bake. My family is known for pumpkin rolls, and I've been making them for 20 years, but I don't eat them anymore. That doesn't make me lousy, and it doesn't make you lousy, either. People enjoy the food you make, because it's good, and that's what matters. If they ask you, simply either tell them you don't eat that stuff anymore, or say you had your fill while making them.

Make the cake pops. And make a few of these too:

Who knows, maybe one of your friends will see the light. :)

I have a friend who is very good at rolling "cigarettes." He's well known for being able to roll a nice, even smoking, large cigarette under almost any conditions (dark, windy, etc.). Tradition among his fellows is that the person who rolls it also has the honor/duty to light it and be the first one to smoke it.

Well, he was applying for jobs that tested for "cigarette" smoking. It was hard for him to explain that he would still roll cigarettes for people, but wouldn't light them or share them with the people. His health and future meant more to him than that. If someone couldn't handle that, he wouldn't roll cigarettes for them anymore.

Well, I made a test batch. Out of pure habit I licked the spoon when done stirring the candy coating you dip them in. Totally did not expect the violent reaction that followed as I gagged and spit it all back out on the floor!

So I finished the test batch, they are in the fridge and noooooo thanks.

@FIT_Goat‌ I am that person now too....I can't smoke "cigarettes" for obvious reasons, but will still roll them for my Mother because she is terrible at it. Yes, my Mother...she's 63 and I am not about to tell her to stop now LOL. But point taken...and I am sure I will get through the shower just fine.

In the end, I don't think a little taste is the end of the world. Just be careful, because it's easy to find excuses if you let yourself.

It is....but after the reaction I had to the taste I took tonight, I have no desire for another one.

Wabmester beat me to it; I was going to say to make yourself something LCHF that you will enjoy and eat that instead.

I baked heart shaped rolled peanut butter cookies for my man for Valentine's Day. I packed up the best ones and mailed 2 dozen to him. :) I tasted just to be sure they were good and my mom saved my from the rest. No violent reaction from the cookie bite I had, and he really enjoyed them.

I was going to suggest muffins in a minute made, crumbled, held together with peanut butter or cream cheese, with the outside coating adding coconut oil for substance for you... Dunno how that would work exactly, but my inner baker says that with enough experimentation it could work.

I miss baking too, but I don't find it difficult to avoid the carbage my fiance still loves. It is difficult though when making things like mashed potatoes to "wing it" as I've always done... No tasting though... Gotta make a recipe. LOL

I still bake- rarely, and in very small batches, and I share whatever I make. I also make the substitutions I need to (almond or coconut flour, minimal maple for sweetener *even though it does have carbs, I don't like to use anything else) etc. Funny thing is, I used to be the family baker- and I recently shared a batch of brownies and my mother HATED them. Not sweet enough, she said, and to me- they were plenty sweet. So the great thing is your tastebuds change and your threshold for sweetness changes in a way that intuitively helps you sustain the changes you're making.

Ooh! Melt some dark chocolate, add a little coconut oil for creaminess, and it should set up well. May need to freeze for the whole thing to hold together, but should work.
