Happy Sunday Folks! Woke up to Green flag HRV of 102.5! Threw out the schedule and decided to do some Dead lift Throw backs. so my lifts sets were as follows 135 X5, 135 X5, 185 X 7, 225 X5, 245 X 5, 255 X 3, 185 X 7, 255 X 3, 185 X 7, 255 X 4 (to Failure) Felt very good. So to finish off the session did a tabata set of 20Lb Wall Balls alternating with 30# Kbell Swings.
What I really feel good about in thsi work out is the HR Zones, 58% was in Zone 1 (<99), 30% in Z2 (100-116) My endurance training rate, 6% in Z3 (117-132) and 6% in Z4 Race Pace (133-149) (the last two were around the tabata set Z3 was 3:26 and Z4 was 3:25.
Plus feel better (the most important measure) than I have in a while. So it was a very good lift session.
How's everybody doin'!

John sounds like an awesome session!!
I'm about to do my PT and some kettlebells.
I've had lots of good night's sleep this week and lots of quality time with Arturo, although I wasn't as productive as I've hoped to be I think the sleep and quality time is worth it. Sometimes our lives gets a little busy and we might forget to work on our relationship because maybe we get complacent it take it for granted? Whatever the reasons are, its good to check in with your loved ones and maintain/ work on those relationships.
Arturo's work team is flying in from all over the country/world. I see social dinners in my near future not that I'm complaining, I feel very lucky and fortunate that his boss and team member always include me in some of their work dinners whenever they are in town. I like all of them, they are all very down to earth, hard working, family orientated, unpretentious, no nonsense type of men. Living in the Bay Area I see a lot corporate climbing, pretentious people so it's nice to meet "good men" I think it's says a lot about the company, it's no coincidence that they tend to hire people that posses those qualities. All of his team have been with the company for over 10 years in "tech years" that's almost a lifetime lol I feel blessed that he has found a good company with good people to work for.0 -
Sunday Sunday Sunday. Spent some time with some friends at the range today. They have recently become interested in shooting (yay).
Did my weekly vlog yesterday (moving it to Friday). I'm on a roller coaster and not diggin' it. I've got to get myself off this thing and get headed in the right direction.0 -
Had a great time this weekend! Went with mark to his house to get odds and ends taken care of. Great food, great laughs and had a blast on a hike today along with going out shooting yesterday! Learning so very much and doing it safe and smart... Having a great teacher helps!0

Happy Monday Folks - Yep that was a very good work out yesterday HRV today was 72,3 with a Yellow Flag and an Active recovery note. So EZ Peazy Today. A note on my Fitbit, I forgot to charge it sat night so for the first time since I've owned one it did not record the steps until I got it some juice. So I had 61 very active minutes yesterday with 0 steps.
Kelly practicing fitness is always more fun with a team mate.0 -
Monday morning everybody.
I want to apologize for not being the most active around here. Again, I'm struggling with things and it's really getting old! I think I desperately need some time away from home but that unfortunately probably won't happen until July (at least anything extended). I think what I really need is somebody giving me a swift kick in the a**!!!0 -
Jen, no need to apologize. Last thing we need is for worrying about this to add stress to your life!
On the never ending flight from hell travel day. First snow. Now a 2 stop flight, over 5 1/2 hours on the same plane to get from Milwaukee to Austin. First St. Louis than New Orleans. Return flight aus-Dallas-new otleans-Milwaukee. And I booked the short set flight Option. Ugh.0 -
Thanks Kim. Dang, I feel bad for you and this crazy travel day. I would probably be ready to just walk the rest of the way.0

Weekend was good. Thanks to Kelly for all the help in getting the house in top shape for a showing today. Took her out Saturday to work on some shooting (competition in mind). She is rocking a Beretta M9A1 pretty darn good, and yes, it fits her hands. Had her shoot my 1911 some too. Sadly, I broke my competition CZ 75B (after 70k rounds I suppose it is allowed). Sunday I found the failure and it was the nut driver who had just installed some new parts... wrong..
We tried out my Hungarian Ghoulash with some Cauli-rice. Came out awesome!! Pretty much just ignoring the scale now. LOL!!0 -
Mark, gotta love that CZ. 70,000 rounds? Awesome!!!! And Kelly out rocking the M9A1. Woohoo!!! Sorry, I got a bit excited there..0
-
Kim, ugh! I feel bad for you.
Mark and Kelly, shooting and good food sounds like a great weekend. And 70k rounds?! Daaaamn.
Jen, I guess we both need a swift kick in the a** lol look, I'm not gonna gonna sugar coat my behavior right now. I got lazy, unmotivated, why? I don't really know and it doesn't matter. Its not so much the weight gain (although that's a HUGE bummer) it's about my eating pattern. I'm not exhibiting self control and as for exercising, I need to force myself to do more. My injuries, my sleep problems blah blah sounds likes excuses. No matter what there is always a work around. I need to toughen up!0 -
Oh I love that beretta and fits my hand perfect expect for the mag release. The cauliflower rice was a first and definitely gotta make again! Mark you forgot our sweet potato chips too! I soooo can't wait to go shooting again and have loads of sunscreen now0
-
I bought the M9 last year as I always wanted one. I shoot it pretty good, but the magazine release just does not work for me. Put about 5000 through it in a few months, tried different releases... nope, not going to work. Now sits as a house gun, and for use in Night matches. Fits Kelly perfect though, so I guess it has a new shooter. The CZ 75B I have had for quite a few years, and it has been a main match gun for a long time. It spent about 5 years as the match gun for my two boys, and is used in 3Gun too. I also run a Sig 1911 pretty hard too. Time for a new pistol though, and I know someone who is lusting after the Sig P320... ok, there are two of us.
Heron and Jen.. I know this sounds not so nice.. sometimes you just got to pull your britches up and get to work, whether you want to or feel like it. Sort of like having to clean out the hog pen. I know I have had to do that on more than one occasion myself, and I am sure I will again.0 -
Mark, thanks! And I don't think your comments were "not so nice" it's just straightforward and I like it. Call it like it is0
-
Mark, that wasn't very nice of you to say.
Actually, it's what needs to be said.
Heron, I'm feeling the same way. Lazy and unmotivated (again) and as you said, it doesn't matter way. I just need to do what I know I need to do.0 -
Happy Tuesday Folks not much time today. Have a great day and a better tomorrow, C YA!

Walked today, a LITTLE better on food and did my PT exercises0

Hey everybody. It's Wednesday. A decent night sleep last night (I don't remember waking up, which I suppose is good).
Carol is apparently going to be participating in the Chicago Tough Mudder in May, so I'll be driving up for this (although not sure yet about participating). I'm in no shape to do ANYTHING at the moment though. Jen, get off your FAT butt and do something!!!!!

Welcome back Tom.

Welcome back Tom. How's your shoulder? ( is it shoulder? I don't remember which body part)
X ray of my foster came back good, his healing is on track so yay! It's such a trip to see the x ray. The plates and screw are bigger than I had imagine. You can definitely tell one leg is thicker due to the plate.

Happy Thursday Folks! Hope all is well with all of you. IT TBT so here is one of me at FOB Loyalty in East Baghdad, 2005. Some close calls on that camp, but learned how to do Karaoke and put on a show there, so some good came out of it. My call sign there was Playa 7.
Welcome Back Tom hope all is well.
Heron - Your Foster is a lucky Dog.
Jen - Koo-EL you'll get to do a good recon on the Obstacles. Though they do vary some from event to event from what I'm told.
For any of you needing some motivation here ya go

Hey everybody. I'm glad this week is coming to an end. Just been kinda blah. Must be the weather.0
-
Hey guys!
Heron, walking, a bit better on food and doing your PT...that's great! Exactly what you should be doing! I think getting the PT work done is HUGE. I know its the easiest thing for me to skip. They feel so boring and pointlessly "easy", even if I know they are not. (or was when I was going to a PT....)honestly, I should pull them out and get back to doing them...my shoulder feels a tiny bit wonky again.
Great trip to Austin. Weather was gorgeous. Loved walking around downtown after our classes. Got to spend some great quality time with one of my team. Saw the famous AUstin bridge bats (which were just too cool). Got in a ton of steps and even a short bike ride on a bikeshare / bcycle bike. Food has been pretty good. Actually very good given I'm traveling...and had a couple of drinks on Tuesday night. Hopefully, haven't swelled up too much from travel and a very active yesterday...last week of the weight maintenance challenge...and I'll be pissed if water gain makes me lose my ante tomorrow morning.
Another travel day from hell....this time AUS-Dallas-NOLA-MKE I believe. another 6 or so hours on the same plane. I try to get up, move around and stretch a bit on the stops, because sitting that long is just wrong.
Carol is really doing that May Chicago Tough Mudder?!? Hmmmm, I dont think I want to do it...but if we're in town maybe I'll come down to meet Jen and Carol!0 -

Kim, have a safe trip home. The bats were just totally freaky to me.
Yes, Carol is doing the Chicago TM. Come down and hang out with me (and hopefully Kristin). I don't want to be the only cheerleader for Carol.0 -
Wow Hammer.. what a fantastic looking PPsH.. *envy* I was in Baghdad for a week in 2005 doing some contracting.
Just chugging along. Kelly's youngest son ate all of the Pecan Butter Chocolate Cookies I had made this weekend for her (yes, those Paleo cookies), I just had to make some Pumpkin Chocolate Bars and make a trip to town for delivery! Just too funny!! All to help get her through the rest of the week.. plus I benefit of course!0 -
hi all! I had my last Physical Therapy appointment today. My range of motion is nearly 100% my strength is good. I am happy, happy, happy!0
-
Happy Friday Folks! Hope all is well with all of you.
Tom = Good news on thew recovery. Hooah!
Mark - I got to play with it for a bit but the Det A guys wouldn't let me keep it.
Kim- Yep looking forward to Austin in Apr, Bummer on the Travel Trials, Hate flying any more, fortunately don't have to much.
Speaking of Carol haven't seen much of her lately hope all is well.0 -
John, I generally enjoy travel including the flying/airport parts. But the poison is in the dose or whatever that saying is. This Austin trip made me even sadder I won't be able to be back for PaleoFX. Such a great place.
In other news I made it through the FB maintenance challenge just fine. Even with Doc pulling me off lifting, eating at a deficit or HIIT until we get the meds sorted. I just followed my general lifestyle template, which I've been doing for months and plan to do forever, but cut out training and upped my calories, without really even thinking or worrying about. Which goes to what I keep saying over and over. If what you are doing to lose weight/fat isn't very close to what you plan on doing for maintenance for the rest of your life you are not going to have long term success. Period.
Its why deep down I really hate challenges or 21 day this or 30 day that. Unless you understand they really don't have an end date. If you need to use a challenge to make some long term sustainable changes, that's great. If you have to be on a challenge to make progress, then in my opinion, you have a lot of work to do on your relationship with food and/or exercise.0 -
Tom, big congrats on your recovery!!
Kim, well put! My relationship food is not good. I've only become aware of food relationship I think 4 years ago.. I grew up with you have to finish your plate and just bad eating habits. A lot of times I would get so busy that I don't eat and then I would binge. If I grew up here I think that would be classified as an eating disorder lol those habit carried on to my adult life but it turned into more binge than starving. Although I am better with exercise I still have the tendency to push. " pain is gain" is what was drilled into me as an athlete. On the plus side my knee is getting better and after talking witth Arturo and much consideration I think I will switch to boxing instead of Muay Thai, IF my knee stays healthy.
Yeah Austin is pretty cool. I haven't been there in a while but from what I heard the vibe is still the same. Very much like the Bay Area. Tech, art, music, sustainability and diversity are thrown together with politics sprinkled on.0
