This is going to be the best place to find people and information for that: http://www.reddit.com/r/vegetarianketo
It's possible that some of the members of that subreddit are also members on here, but you'll find them easier looking through there than they'll find your post in here.
I don't know how they do it, personally. It's not for me.0 -
Thanks for the link0

I'm pretty sure you'd die of sadness. Lol! Wouldn't make it through a week of meat-withdrawl.0 -

LOL, back in 2003 through 2004, I was a vegetarian. I know, hard to believe when you see what I eat now. I was convinced that it would be the path to health for me. Clearly, the way I was eating before that wasn't working. So, I gave it about two years. But, I just stayed fat and got sicker.
These days, I would die of sadness or withdrawal. <- vegetarian smilie0 -
That's so funny FIT_Goat ! I went vegetarian for 2 years too, but that changed abruptly when I became pregnant and all of a sudden I was craving meat of all descriptions. I think my body knew what it needed. Now of course, meat is the focus of all our meals at my house.
I'm in no way an expert, but I believe that by eliminating meat, the diet is not as nutritionally sound. It's worth a look to research the topic. But having been vegetarian, I remember how I felt back then compared to how I feel now....and there is no comparison, in that I feel much healthier now, and slimmer.
I would miss saturated fat from animal sources if doing vegetarian keto. Trust the experts on achieving your goals while vegetarian. Good luck !0 -
I abruptly changed after attempting to donate blood (regular donor) and being turned away for low iron. I ate plenty of vegetables that were supposed to be high in iron. I took a multi-vitamin (not that there was iron in it, but I assumed there was). Men just don't typically have low iron. I realized that something had to be dramatically wrong with what I was eating. A little research turned up how poorly non-heme is absorbed, and I went back to eating meat the next day. And, not one for moderation, I ate like a full pound of beef. I had forgotten how much I liked meat. I've never had a repeat of that incident.0

I was vegetarian for a few months as an experiment shortly after The China Study came out. I did blood work before and after. It was no good for me.
Some people do well on low fat. Some people do well on low carb. Know thy genes.0 -
I used to donate every 56 days, religiously. I never missed an opportunity unless I was sick, and then as soon as I was better I went in. I think that contributed to the low iron. Plus coffee hinders absorption or non-heme iron, and I drank a lot of coffee. I probably didn't include enough vitamin C. I also ate a lot of foods that also hinder uptake (e.g. grains). So, the were a lot of factors that all worked together to make it show up for me.
But yeah, some people can probably be healthy and meet all their needs on a low fat diet, some on a vegetarian diet, some on a low carb diet. I only know it didn't work out for me.
This is making me think I should go donate blood. LOL, it's been about 8 months. I've been slacking.0 -
I do eat fish, eggs, cheese and vegetarian products such as quorn and I always make sure I have plenty of fats in my diet. Just because I'm vegetarian doesn't mean I can't follow a low carb diet I've even read of some vegans following it too. Weight loss has been good and I have so much energy0

Grains were a big contributor to my anemia. I'd been struggling with it for several years, and my iron was always on the low side for as long as I've been able to donate blood (as often borderline as not). At one point, I was so anemic that my doctor almost gave me a mega-dose (it was like three units too high to qualify). I knew about including Vitamin C and avoiding Calcium at the same time, but after I stopped eating grains, I haven't noticed any of the symptoms of the level of anemia I used to have (my gums and nailbeds are still on the pale side sometimes, but I haven't had the other symptoms that I used to experience, and while my iron hasn't been checked specifically in a while, my other blood tests come back well in range, suggesting that my iron levels are at least fairly close to normal; I need to do that sometime...).
OP - There are a handful in this group. Go through the post history and you should find a few topics about it, each with a few responses from people.0 -
You're getting a good mix of nutrients by including fish, eggs, and dairy with your veggies. That should work well.0

I'm not saying you couldn't. That link I gave is full of people doing ketogenic vegetarian diets. That's as low carb as you can get. It definitely can be done.
I did say it wasn't for me. I shouldn't have interjected that. It ended up derailing things. Sorry.0
