Diabetes and Blood Sugar levels

This post isn't specifically about WLS but I know a lot of us are diabetic. I'm trying to get off my meds now that I've had surgery so I've been monitoring my blood sugar levels lately (quite honestly, I almost never did prior to a few weeks ago). So, I pricked myself this morning after about 10 hours of not eating. 103 was the reading. I thought, ok, that sounds about right I guess. Just out of curiosity, I pricked another finger and now just a few seconds later the reading was 73. So I did another finger and got 117.

103. 73, 117 all within about a minute of each other. Obviously nothing changed in my body in that short of a time. Has anyone else experienced this. And if so do you know the reason this might be? Could I just have a crappy meter? I'm confused!

I have experienced it and I have no clue why it does that. Make sure you talk to your doctor about getting your A1C done 3 months out, I bet the numbers will creep down as time goes on. Good Luck!!

Your meter is not always accurate because of the quality. All meters have a range of error and isn't usually a big deal. With three or more readings just average them and then you will have a more accurate results.
