I had suspected I was reacting to cream, and finally figured out what I was reacting to, and it WASN'T the cream.

If I drink crappy coffee, my throat itches. If I use the expensive stuff (the name will get censored if I post it here, but you can find it by searching for KickDonkey & replacing Donkey with the appropriate term), I'm fine.

So...the problem was, I decided to use up my old coffee. I need to get to grinding tonight!

Coffee is funny sometimes. I had terrible stomach issues for awhile. I thought I was becoming intolerant to some of my supplements or the CO. Turns out I was being poisoned by the coffee. Something was off in the canister, so I threw it out. It was mid-range priced gourmet. Now I'm back to drinking cheap ol' Folgers. And everything is right with the world tummy-wise.

Glad you narrowed down what was bothering you! Figuring out what's going wrong can be ridiculously hard sometimes.

Mmm good coffee. I'm just a teensy bit snobby about my coffee sometimes...
I prefer a lighter roast, first of all. I love the fruity taste of a good cup of plain coffee.
I prefer beans from the Americas. I am currently having a delicious cup of French pressed coffee with beans from Colombia. These were purchased at...HEB, the local grocery store, in the bulk section. Not bad.
When in California, we used to buy our coffee and beans from Peet's. In Austin, we have Anderson's Coffee. The owner trained with Alfred Peet. The beans are usually roasted nicely, although one time I actually got an over-roasted batch of Mexican coffee. That made me feel kinda sick to my stomach every time I had it, so now it is sitting in a cabinet freshening the air. haha
The other day, I had a cuppa from another local roaster. They have Promised Land heavy cream and have been kind enough to hand me a spoon and the bottle, and measure my own. I was impressed with their drink selections and their hospitality, but alas the coffee is a bit on the over-roasted side as well. One of their blends was ok, but the last one I had left my stomach turning. I was also questioning the cream, but it was probably the coffee itself.

There are a couple coffee shops in Austin and Houston that use a "Toddy" cold filtered coffee system to make amazingly smooth iced coffee. When filtered overnight like this, it takes out pretty much all the acidity and leaves such a smooth concentrated coffee that it tastes almost like bourbon. No heartburn. So nice. One of them, interestingly enough, has a name very similar to your Kick Donkey...although theirs is a bit more publicly acceptable: Kick Butt Coffee.
Because I am too lazy and impatient to set up the Toddy overnight, however, I will just buy iced coffee concentrate from Trader Joe's.

    And finally...
My current morning coffee is the ultimate in lazy keto. I have...instant freeze dried coffee that has MCT oil and cocoa mixed right in. Just add water and heavy cream - instant BPC!
