Does anyone know how to calibrate the Charge? A friend just got one and she said it read that she went 2 miles or so, but when she did the same route with her car it gave her a mile or so.. so it is off. Any ideas how to calibrate it?

Not 100% sure I am right with this...but it could be to do with her stride length...you can set your stride length in Fitbit....so it measures your distance more accurately....

There was a thread in here about how to set it....but I will have to go look.....try the search bar at top to find about stride length if I do not get back with a link....(I set mine up a few weeks back to 1.9 feet ish).......if that helps....all I did was measure a certain distance...(using my treadmill as a guide) then divide that by number of steps taken......I added that to Fitbit......but do not take my word that this is the fix...or the right way to add it....just a theory..

In the FAQ in these stickies.

And a car isn't accurate enough either.

Just got a Charge - was tossing up between this and a HR, but I have a chest strap HRM which I read is more accurate for boxing and resistance training (my primary workouts) Read the FAQ and it looks like I can still log this manually - will my fitbit show the additional calorie burn from manual entry?

I've had my flex for about 6 mo, would like to have the Charge HR however reviews aren't the best plus they're overpriced compared to some comparable other trackers

I have a polar v800 and since a couple of weeks the Fitbit Charge HR. Comparing the Fitbit with the V800 is of course not the thing I would like to do because there is a huge difference. What I miss is the coaching part from Fitbit to get me moving as Nike FuelBand and Jawbone are doing with their product a lot more

    Actually not more accurate.
Any HRM formula for calorie burn is ONLY best estimate for steady-state aerobic exercise, same HR for 2-4 min.
Resistance training could be aerobic if reps is high enough and rests are brief and not really pushing much weight, but strength training if done right is anaerobic.
    Neither is steady-state.
Hence the need to manually log Weights, circuit training, or calisthenics.
The closer to cardio you get, the better the HRM estimate though, just less inflated.

Boxing probably is though a good estimate.

Any workout manually entered or synced over from other app (like MFP), then Fitbit replaces their estimate of calorie burn. So it shows it in the daily stats, and of course the workout sitting there in your history.

Just got on board. I am competitive and need something to constantly give me better feedback than the mirror and the waistline.
