Hi Gang,
I'm signed up for Cari's 13 week challenge and am pretty excited. I like the idea of making small, consistent changes each week. And I'm going to make a huge effort to focus on ONE thing at a time, instead of doing my usual laundry list and then not keeping up.

Yesterday was a long day of driving--over 5 hours total to get to the south shore (20 minutes from Boston) to spend Easter with my brother's family, including my new great niece Eliza, who was as cute as a button, of course. I ate WAY too much and too much sugar, so today I have a huge sugar hangover. Today I'll detox from the sugar, drink a lot of water to clean out my system, and swim laps for an hour. That should do the trick. JIM actually VOLUNTEERED to go to the gym with me tonight. I may just faint. I'm thrilled!!!! We used to go to the gym together all the time, and over the past few years he just stopped going. I always ask and he always says, "not tonight," so to have him finally step up and say, "yeah, I really need to do this," is great.

I hope everyone has a fabulous Monday. Great day to take stock and set some goals (yes, Diana, you can too, LOL!!!) Nancy, how goes the sand removal???

K.

What a total cutie!!! Put a smile on my face!

Well sand removal on Friday went well...BUT it is starting up all over again!!!! The winds are picking up and they start swirling buckets of sand around!! We are hoping for a chance of rain on Wednesday just to clean off the trees, buildings etc.

Did a 30 minue session on yoga this am...whew...that was tough...stretched places I never knew was there!! Tomoro back to 30 minutes of cardio!!

Well, I survived my birthday AND Easter without too much going wrong! My choices were not the greatest as I was celebrating and didn't want to depress myself with telling myself no. But I found that even though I was eating nachos and margaritas and pizza and fries (Bill's Pizza and Pier Fries if you are ever in Maine is a MUST!) and Easter dinner... I found I ate smaller amounts and was just as happy. I did go over my calories, but also didn't log any exercise. I didn't get much but I got enough to probably cancel out the overage!

I will make small changes here and there but I didn't say that out loud!! ;)

    Cute picture!

I can't imagine a sand storm. My husband owns a gravel pit so I am very accustomed to having sand in the mud room, in the laundry room, in my shower... but I'm sure it is nothing compared to a sand STORM! Ick!

Ok. Off to shower and do some errands before the kids get home. I'm totally procrastinating today!

Have a good week everyone! Hugs!

Diana, in Maine, where it needs to hurry up and warm up!!

All that sand removal just sounds icky haha. Good luck it keeping up with it and hopefully it rains in the near future. I am glad that all of you had enjoyable Easters. I was able to spend mine with my family. I ate too much, but I think the 2 hours or so that I spent as a horse/car/dog/bad guy/monster for my nieces made up for that haha. This is the last week for our show. I have had a ton of fun, but I think I have decided to maybe only do one (maybe 2) shows a year. That'll give me a chance to keep up with my proper exercise and food preparation for most of the year. I did get recruited for an a cappella group (I get to be the high tenor) so I should get my singing fix in.

Good luck to everyone on being healthier and happier (with or without written goals).

    Diana, Happy Belated Birthday!!!
When was it and did you get some good presents?

Zac, congrats on the successful Easter as a carnival ride for your nieces and nephews. Although I can't do it on land any more, I'm totally a carnival ride for the neighborhood children once we get into the lake. One of our favorites is called "rough seas," where the kids climb all over me, I pretend I'm a *kitten*, I float around in the shallow water of this "beautiful day for sailing," then suddenly we hit ROUGH SEAS and I thrash around and try to throw them off, LOL. It's a total riot, and YES, very good exercise (and a great way to break a hip at my age, LOL).

Nancy, I hope you're sand free again. What a bonus, though, for the exercise. Maybe you could host your own workout video, "Nancy's Sand-Scrubbing Sashay," which could be even bigger than Prancercise! One of the years I was in Alaska, we had some huge volcanic eruptions in the Alaska range that dumped volcanic ash all over Anchorage. We had to be really careful with the cleanup, since it's so caustic to lungs, so typically you wet it down and shovel it wet rather than trying to sweep it away. Everywhere we went, we wore filter masks (you know, those white masks?), so everyone looked like surgeons, and it became the running joke to greet other people as "doctor," as in "Hello, Doctor Karen." "Well Hello, Doctor Nancy." bwahahahaa! What a MESS, and even worse when the slugs came out (I don't know if they were driven above ground by the sulpher, or what, but the huge banana slugs were EVERYWHERE)... yes, folks, everything you didn't know about Alaska... it's not all about ice and polar bears, lol. Anyway, I totally get how hard it is to get that sand out of everything. The ash just snuck through every crevice and crack!

Today I am in a bit of a funk. I have a ton of heinous chores to get done, lots of phone calls to make to try to get a new rheumatologist (mine's retiring on April 30) and probably a new GP at the same time, since mine has become pretty useless (she has WAY too many patients). Jim and I were supposed to go to the gym last night but instead we had a stupid fight about something stupid, so I will take myself off to the gym for some extra lap and aquasize time. I also need to clean out some of the junk food that has creeped into the house. I'm pretty good about staying away from it unless it is staring me in the face, and I don't understand why Jim can't get this. Right now on top of the fridge are all kinds of boxes of crackers, chips, and sugared cereals. My first instinct, because I'm so angry with him about something else, is to just throw all of it out the door and onto the front lawn, LOL!!!! That would make me feel better. But I'll probably just box it all up and put it in a cabinet or in his shop. I never thought I'd say this, but I think there's some sabotage going on here, like he WANTS me to fail at this weight loss, but that's a discussion for couple's therapy, I suppose, which I'm guessing is where we'll be headed eventually if we want to save this 17-year relationship. Blegh. I'd much rather pack my bags and run to another state or country!

Okay, that's my drama and confessional for the day. Just finished my coffee, so now I'll make a to do list and start to do. Good luck everyone with your day--be good to yourself!

    K.

lol I was totally trying to figure out what you (or what I thought was you) had bleeped out! I thought it can't be THAT bad if you are playing with kids!!
Thanks for the birthday wish! It was Friday, the 3rd. I got some good stuff. I am pretty much spoiled by my hubby and the kids!!

I'm making cupcakes and brownies today for my son and his after school activity tomorrow. I sooooo want to lick the bowl! The snow this morning did nothing for my spring fever. It didn't stick and it didn't last long but long enough to make me a bit ticked off at Mother Nature! I want warm weather!! NOW!!!

Hope everyone has a good day! Stay strong Karen and I say chuck the junk on the lawn! ;)

How many men could an angry woman chuck if any angry woman could chuck men?

Hey, at least the gym was good to me. Feeling STRONG. Plus I got one of the first appts with the new head of rheumatology at St. Mary's.

Now I just have to leave the gym parking lot and return home where I have nothing to say. Nancy, how did you ever survive three divorces?

    'night all!

No arguments here haha. It is true that quite a large number of men deserve a good chucking. My plan to be a male spinster (I already have a cat and do some crafts so bachelor is not the right term) seems like the safest bet to not getting chucked out on my backside haha.

Karen, yesterday you may have been in a funk, whereas today I was ...I don't even know what to say...it is work related and how people are treated boggles the mind. While trying to cut back on food, exercise,....now I am re-evaluating my future and what I want to do when I 'grow' up and this ain't it!!!!! Tomoro is another day and then my weekend! I hope to get out of my funk by the end of the weekend! This is the life!!

Hey gang, heading to Boston this morning to look at a travel scooter from craigslist. Wearing new (from the back of my closet) bra, underwear, and shirt because the old ones are FALLING OFF.
Weighed in this morning at 407. Omg... I can see the 300's for the first time in five years.
