What has worked and yet didn't work for me.

A few years ago I was gaining weight, my muscle's were non-existent and I was feeling old. I decided to stop the cycle an went out to go find a gym. I walked in, signed up and even got a personal trainer. Wow was that expensive! I did loose weight but it finally got to a point were I couldn't afford it and I was sick an tired of feeling like crap from the immense amount of exercise and dieting I was doing.
So yes exercise and dieting did work for me but I was still unhappy. My next journey is to do a little of the above but to keep it at a level I am able to deal with on a daily basis. I will be monitoring the amount of calories I consume but at the same time not worrying if I happen to go over it a bit.
Did I mention I am getting married!
My fiance is curvaceous and has been doing a great job at getting Healthy. While I've been heading in the other direction. I need to find a good grove and stick with it for her and for myself!
Thanks for Listening. - Sam

Hey Sam! I know the feeling. 6 years ago I weighed 235 and at 5'6 this was not exactly "within my range", this was an average weight for me with my weight fluctuating by 5-10 lbs depending on how active or lazy I was. I had been overweight my whole life, and having kids just exacerbated it. I finally, like you, wanted a change. It took a whole year but I lost 85-90 lbs.
I've still fluctuated since then...getting as low as 119 (super unhealthy) and then getting too comfy again and gaining 50 lbs making myself soft at 170 lbs as recent as 6 months ago. I did do weights for a good 4 years and even competed in body figure competitions, but I quit when I injured my shoulders. So I still have a good amount of muscle still on my 5'6" frame but I'm working my way back to a healthy 150 for my height.
I'm also getting married!! Congratulations!!!
I hope I can help!! I have been exactly where you are, I know it all too well, and if there is any advice or just general motivation, I will definitely try to do it!0 -
Thanks so much for the kind words Theresa. Congratulations on your getting married as well! It's super exciting and stressful to plan out the wedding.
I'm hoping that with slight changes over time I could drop back to the low 200's. This is pretty much my heaviest at just over 300 lbs. Life was to blame this round but in the end they are my choices. I need to understand that when I crave beyond what is needed that it's not worth it. Some people may be able to indulge in foods. I just can't be one of them.0 -
Oh for sure, tell me about it! Super stressful!! haha, weddings are not for the weak!
I found that, for me, it was all about baby steps in weight loss. You're right, slight changes over time works best. Don't want to shock your system and get sick or anything. I had a trainer tell me when I'm feeling hungry, just to drink a huge glass of water, it fills you up and then you don't want anything anymore (well, most times). The first thing I did was stop drinking soda, and bam....those were the first few pounds I dropped. Let me tell you, I was a soda-*kitten*...I drank a 2-liter of Mountain Dew every day. I now have the fillings from the cavities to prove it
And I am NOT one of those people that just indulge...I wish! The best thing is to find things that keep you motivated....an upbeat song, a good book, a workout, or reading motivational quotes on Pinterest (I know, sounds odd, but it helps me lol).
You'll get there! I'm rooting for you!0
