Good morning and thanks for the welcome back

Well I made it back! haha I did have an ok day yesterday, really meaning last night after supper. Once I follow plan for a day or two it does seem easier.
I have not been running quite as much as I use to, I haven't stopped, but do not put nearly the miles as I use to in. Generally I go out and do a 5 or 6K run instead of an 8 or 10. My goal is to get back to running longer distances. I still want to fit in the strength workouts I've been doing, I do love them. I signed myself up for a sole sisters race in June, its just a 5K fun walk/run so there won't be much pressure.
Yesterday I did a Chalean Extreme video....today I will run either on the treadmill or outside.

Val - I have had that sort of thing happen before, you get a whole post ready to go and then poof....its gone. so frustrating! Hope your day at the gym went well...and glad that you are feeling better! Lots of stuff going around this winter.

Marla - thanks for the advice, you are so right. I have been staying positive (most of the time!) and trying to thing long term....its not going to happen overnight. Hope you got some more good sleep last night!

Sherry - great job on the workout/run! Hope you can get back out today as well. And happy birthday to dh!

Have a great day all

Marla- Yay for good sleep! Hooefully this trend continues!

Sherry - I'm glad I'm only watching him until mid-July. I'm also pretty strict and so he always has to kind of transition every morning from his house to ours. I'm not cut out for daycare apparently. ;).

Maureen - Once I have a routine set up, things usually go pretty well for me. The struggle is actually setting up that routine...and then getting back into it after things like vacation or illness. Glad you're getting back into the swing of things just fine!

I got yet another migraine yesterday. I think after being sick, my body got crazy hungry with even just the small workouts I've been doing. I get migraines whenever I go from a surplus to a deficit in calories. These have been weird as I've been getting them much more frequently then normal (usually I only have them for a couple of days and then I'm good), and they've been receding towards that evening. Which has never happened to me. Once I get them, they stay until I sleep them off. So not sure what's going on exactly. But I'm going to continue staying consistent with calories, sleep, and taking my thyroid meds and see if that takes care of the problem.

I did get a bike ride in yesterday morning. Was planning a small run this morning, but I turned my alarm off and the next thing know its well over and hour later! Guess I needed the sleep! So I'm going to get in a small swim this morning instead, and do the run tomorrow! I'm also hoping to get to the running store for new shoes. I've put this off for waaaaaay to long, because these have been the best pair of shoes I've had! But there is a hole forming around my pinky toe and the time has come to say goodbye! I also need a new hand held water bottle. My son got ahold of mine and chewed the spout right off.*sigh

    Happy hump day everyone!

Hey all. Well I've hit a patch of negativity so I'm going to vent...sorry. I just can't stand how frumpy I see myself in shop window reflections when I'm running. I feel like no matter how many miles I'm putting in, all people see is the overweight chick running slow. Sigh. See what I mean, so freaking negative. Ugh. Anyway, on top of it, I've been drinking my weight in fruit juices lately. And although I know Pom juice is good for me, etc, it's just too many calories and it's become a habit like coffee was and I need to do something about it, to be able to have juice in moderation, not like a pre-K sugar junkie, lol! And finally, there's running--it got hard today. Sigh. I was goin to try to keep ramping up for ~50mpw til DH goes out of town in a week and then do a taper week (bc I'll need it and won't have as much time for runs and NO time on weekends)....but I think my body is demanding a taper week now. Legs feel okay but mentally I'm not so into it this week. Sad face.

Anyway, asked DH to pick up kids thinking I'd do mediumlong run, but it was really humid down by the marina so I turned round a mile early which put me on the hwy while the sun was still high so I had to turn to run through neighborhoods for shade which is murder on a run because of all the cross streets and pedestrians. Then I got to a bridge that I don't run across (it's got lots of ankle-deep holes on it, don't ask actually!) so I was done at about 7.85mi and got home at the same time as DH and the kids. A real "meh" day. Hoping tomorrow will be better.

Y'all keep it up! It helps neutralize some of this negativity to come check out all ur alls posts, so thank you!

I see I posted a thread starter on Monday, then never came back.

Maureen!!! So nice to hear from you again.

Val I knew you watched an extra kid during the day but must have missed where he was staying with you while his parents are on a trip. You're a good sport. :) Sorry to hear you've been feeling cruddy. I don't get migraines from not eating but I will get them when I'm dehydrated. Often when I'm sick I don't drink enough and then the migraine comes.

Marla I hope you were able to sleep again last night. Is Nia something you'd be able to do on your own after you move? (Obviously it wouldn't be the same as a class, but with the thought something is better than nothing.) I looked out of curiosity and the closest class to me is 126 miles away.

Monday night I had my workout with Jason, and that went fine. Only one thing we did bothered my leg (it was an upper body exercise but I had to plant my leg to do it and that irritated it). Yesterday after work I had an MRI on my femur. I see the doctor first thing Monday to discuss results/treatment. We've got an event at the office tonight, then I'll leave a bit early to go see Jason at 7:00. I typically don't see him Wednesdays but someone in the office at the gym booked him over my usual Thursday night slot before he could put my name in, so I'm going in today instead. He is staying later than he usually does on Wednesdays to fit me in, but I don't feel too bad because if he hadn't waited until the last minute to plug me in for Thursday that spot wouldn't have looked open. :)

Sherry I know that feeling well. Sometimes I feel great and strong and healthy. Some days I catch a reflection of myself in a mirror or window as I'm going past something and I feel like I'm huge. What works for me is to first scold yourself "You just can't think that way," and then start thinking of all the positive. #1 = you are out running, etc.

Hi all, i have bought 3 dvd's now so i can do nia at home when i move.

Sherry, here is what i did not liking water to get me off pure juice. I started by putting a little water in it and gradually, you have to be patient, i added more and more water to where it was just flavored water, then i finally was able to cut it out altogether and just drink water and decaf tea, i drink ginger tea.

I slept 10 hrs last night...i know surprised me! I am now wondering if my job had something to do with how bad it got, i really didnt want to work the long boring days...but i am back on my regular schedule now so should be ok. Work until memorial day.

Going to my friends nia class at 5 today, was going to walk too but its windy and my allergies are up again.

I've also mixed juice with diet sprite, diet 7-up, that kind of thing. You could also use club soda I would think? That works best with a juice like pom where it's naturally very strong.

Glad you got the DVDs Marla. And 10 hours of sleep?!? Wow.

The event at the office was in full swing when I left. I hated to leave. Good upper body workout with Jason. Lasted fr 2 minutes on the AMT and 6 minutes on the recumbent bike before they bothered my leg. Tomorrow night I'll get on my own bike (on the trainer) and Friday after work I'll swim. I have a massage on Friday & it's at the fitness center where I use the pool so I'm going to be there anyway. I likely won't swim long in any event, but there's a therapy pool, a whirlpool and a sauna there I can also use.
