Salad on Demand

I've found it convenient to prepare enough salad for 2 or 3 days without some ingredients making the salad "soggy".
I prepare all the greens, celery, shredded carrots, & a handful of chopped cabbage etc (your preferences) in a Tupperware Lettuce Keeper.
In individual small containers, I store chopped boiled eggs, tomato, & chopped broiled chicken or any other ingredients I want to use.
When I'm ready to eat, I simply mix what I want into my salad bowl, add the dressing of choice and within a couple of minutes I'm enjoying my salad.
No chopping, cutting, or cleanup.

    Great post TexOkie12,

My husband suggested we have "main dish salads" for dinner every night for 2 weeks. We did that and I prepped ingredients like you did. It made making the main dish salads so much easier and dinner was done in a flash. We also both lost several pounds.

    Four of my favorites were:
    1. Mandarin Chicken Salad: cubed chicken, mandarin oranges, almonds, and tomatos over salad greens
    2. Berry Chicken Salad: cubed cooked chicken, grated cheddar cheese, blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, dried cranberries, almonds over salad greens with poppy seed dressing
    3. BLT salad with avocado
    4. And his favorite: Taco Salad: greens, spiced cooked ground beef, tomatos, with just a little bit of cheese, and 4 broken tortilla chips on top, and of course salsa. ( I mixed my salsa with an equal amount of plain yogurt)

If you need ideas many of the fast food restaurants are featuring salads these days and you can look at ads or online for ideas, you just will want to keep to mostly low calorie ingredients and use portion control on higher calorie ingredients (like cheese).
