I've never experience the swelling you have described but have experienced the pain. I am slowly learning to listen to my body as my ego is not worth missing out on subsequent sessions I would miss. Hope you feel better soon.

Angi, I haven't experienced anything to that degree but we recently did a WOD that was 150 pullups for time with 3 burpees every 30 seconds and two of the women at my box experienced exactly what you're describing as far as the pain, soreness and the swelling. If you dont use it already I highly reccomend using voodoo floss bands (AKA mobility recovery bands). My coach wrapped the women and had them go through a bit of mobility on the third day (when it was the worst) and they were both amazed at the almost instant improvement and quicker recovery. I was skeptical but they're cheap (about $15 each) and they work. Some links on them below.

@Angimom this happened to me when I had bicep tendonitis and then went right back into pull-ups (60 in one WOD, was resting for 2 months) without training back up to a normal level. This week I started doing 5 pull-ups after each WOD and adding 5 more each time. I think it's just an overuse injury, you probably need to build strength and listen to your body! Ice and NSAIDs should help, but I'm glad you're feeling better, it does suck!

Thanks everyone! It really helps knowing I am not the only one who suffered from this. I might order the band, just to have them on hand for the next time! LOL, really I hope that it never happens again. I did ring rows yesterday morning in our wod. I did a scaled version.

I used to get "golfer's elbow" from doing pull-ups. Not fun.

I had some elbow tendonitis when I started CF. Once I warmed up it was pain free, just a bit stiff afterwards. Last year some time it just went away, haven't had that problem since.
