Wow I am nearing the end of day 1 of Atkins induction and I don't think I have ever craved sugar so badly. I'm hanging in there but wow.....no words.

Is this your first time doing a low carb approach to eating?

Yes it is. I was eating 80% paleo but consuming quite a bit of carbs with sweet potatoes and yams

Ang, I'm having a similar thing. Actually I just made a post. It's not so much about sugar but just eating in general.

All I can say is hang in there and it gets easier. I hope. They say it does. I think a few more days. I think I might go mad though!!

I'm not sure if Atkins allows sweeteners. If it does, you might enjoy cream cheese clouds.

I finally had to go off carbs cold turkey to brake my carb addiction. It was hellish for two weeks and the cravings just started to fade after that point. After 7 months I still do not crave sugar/breads/etc. I love being able to eat a ton and not go hungry. Best of luck with your move from sugar/carbs to fats.

Try a bite of peanut butter or other fat bombs. Hang in there! it gets better.

It really does get better. I spent 18 years having binge eating disorder and could eat 1000+ grams of carbs a day often.

I now have less than 20 and can cope just fine. I handle sweet food, sugar, chocolate etc and never want to eat it. Give it a few weeks.

Like everyone says just hang in there. And try not to give into temptation because it's just makes the cravings worse. Think of this as sugar rehab :)

I had to give up sugar and sweeteners. The artificial sweeteners just made the cravings worse.

eat more fat each time you feel a craving... it usually gets rid of mine. My favourite way is clotted cream - pure fat, no carbs and feels so decadent. I don't know how this fits in with atkins though.

I was like @minties82 I used to eat SO many carbs each day - eg pasta with wine followed by chocolate and never feel like I was satisfied, even though I was full to bursting. Getting through the next few weeks will free you from so much. Good luck!

This is going to sound crazy... Ok it is crazy... But it works... Eat a dill pickle spear or two... It kills sugar cravings completely.
