Bloodwork

I have alot of Naysayers trying to tell me what I'm doing is going to cause a heart attack. Anyone that has had blood work done and has been doing the LCHF--will you share your findings? You can post here or by message. My last blood work was absolutely picture perfect. I'm terrified eating so much red meat and fats is going to effect that even though I'm now down 10lbs. Enlighten me folks :-)

Are you afraid of cholesterol? If you eat real food (not processed meats, not hydrogenated oils, sugar, processed carbs, junk food) you should be ok. Avocados, olive oils, real meat, eggs should be staple of your LC diet.

I have bloodwork postings, from last April when I did it for 5 months, then again from May this year when I started again. PLease see my blog http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/Keliandra0 -
I don't understand it. I've had people tell me the same thing and my argument always is.....do you think your great grandmother went to the store and bought pseudofood or do you think she went and bought eggs, meat, full fat milk? I feel amazing 12 days into this way of eating so at this point I don't care what anyone says.0

I a type 2 diabetic and have tried to follow LCHF for a year. My HDL went up like crazy, but LDL also went up. HDL is a cholesterol that scavenges oxidized cholesterol from the blood and takes it to the liver. My triglycerides plummeted and my VLDL is very low. I reduced my Hb1Ac by 1 point from 7.2 to 6.2. I am still working on this. I also do intermittent fasting and have other issues that could raise blood cholesterol like hypothyroid disease. In general, cholesterol is good but it can get oxidized and end up in your arteries and other areas like the kidney. Oxidation of fats is caused by inflammation in the body which is believed to be very much affected by increased insulin in the blood. Thus we are on low carb. CRP is one measure of inflammation, and in my case is also very low.0

My lipid panel improved a lot on this diet. I went from 4 out of 5 markers of metabolic syndrome to 0.
Phinney and Volek did the definitive study on this diet:

Thank you for the link. Lots of interesting info.0 -
My Dr wants to wait 1 more month before she'll do blood work again (to give it chance for "real change"). But my resting heart rate went down to 66bpm & Bp is down to 115/74.0

My recent lab results are similar to what others have posted. HDL went up by 10 points, LDL down marginally, but the ratio improved (ldl/hdl) to 1.6. I also got my A1C down to 5.8 (from 7.9 in Aug '14)0

I can't find part 2, which has the lipid panel, which I'm assuming is the reason they all think you're going to die.

That's actually not necessarily a bad thing. LCHF increases the size of the LDL particles, making them more like HDL particles. Hence why your VLDL and trigs are low.

This is my bloodwork. As per what @Dragonwolf references above I'm still waiting on my confirmation of blood test back CONFIRMING that my LDL which went up is the larger particles in smaller concentration, which is what is indicated by the level of trigs/HDL. This is a good predictor of the particle size, from some other article I found...
97 trgs / 45 hdl = 2.16 ratio which is one category above the best...so well in the healthy range...
Good reads, but be sure to consider context...

I haven't don a full write up on my cholesterol results yet, as I am still waiting to have actual numbers to support my hypothesis of less scary LDL particles.... Should have them this week sometime.0
