Wandering off for a bit

I seem to be getting more and more neurotic about my food and unable to stick to low carb for more than a few days at a time. I think I'm going to back off from tracking, from reading about food, from trying to force my body into something my mind is strenuously resisting for some reason. I'm going to try to just stick to Primal (ie, paleo + dairy) for a bit, but without an insane amount of starchy veg just because it's supposed to be alright. My brain is going around in circles about way too many things for me to focus much attention on food right now.
I'll be back, and will report on what I learn.

Good luck. As I always say, sustainability is my top priority. Eat what you like that's good for you.0

Let us know whatever you learn!0
-
Agreed - make your eating plan work FOR your life... (hugs)0
-
I made it a whole 8 days before coming back to y'all!
What I learned:- Joint pain & digestive issues is directly related to how many carbs/quality of carbs in my diet.
- I need to figure out what is going on mentally that makes it hard for me to do what I know I should be doing.
- Quitting my job makes me much less depressed.
- Putting a board under our mattress makes my shoulders hurt less.
- Tracking may not make me eat better food, but it does help with the quantities of crappy food.

Good lessons! I especially liked the one about quitting your job. I try to do that every few years, and it works wonders!0
-
I scared people: quit my job, started dressing girlier, and practically shaved my head. Weeeee!0

Welcome back! I was thinking about you yesterday, wondering how it was going! I love that you quit your job! Whenever someone is depressed about their job it's time to move on. There are too many choices available.
Just the thought of what the pain was like makes me not want to ever eat carbage again! And, I find that tracking helps keep me aware of what is going in and more accountable to myself.
So glad to see you again!0 -

Welcome back! Flat to see you've made good choices and sounds like you're much happier now!0

Welcome back home !0

Thanks, y'all!
Today, I start tracking again. The AC repairman just called to say he's on his way. It's been out all week - luckily, it hasn't been broiling. Time to work (doing contract work for an old boss) until I have to go get the kids!0 -
Glad you are feeling better. I had a bad day yesterday and I'm just discouraged as all hell. I felt like doing a pixie-crop yesterday. My hair is more than halfway down my freakishly long back. Summer is coming... However, DH would retaliate by mohawking it and dying his remaining hair pink if I did that. I have a round face so I wouldn't look good in a pixie anyway.0

Interesting lessons, especially the job one. I've been bored and underutilized in my job for years, but I like the people and all that...and the benefits are great. There's really nothing much better in my small town, so changing jobs would require relocation and all of that, and I'm just...offput. Maybe things will get easier now that my WOE/WOL has shifted so dramatically!0

My DH likes my hair better short, and it's not just because I don't shed as much. I have a very round face, but my cut works for it.glossbones wrote: »Sounds like you made the resets you needed! Nope, but the 8-year-old girl wants to shave hers this summer, just like Daddy's.Just the thought of what the pain was like makes me not want to ever eat carbage again! And, I find that tracking helps keep me aware of what is going in and more accountable to myself.
Unfortunately, I haven't gotten to the point where the thought of pain can override the impulse. I'm working on it.0 -

Journal every moment of your pain and discomfort and misery and setback. Be brutally honest. Embellish. Get every gory detail. Read every time you're tempted, once a week, once a month, whatever you need to EMBLAZON it upon your memory... (hugs)0 -

As someone with a round face that has rocked a pixie cut many times, I disagree! The trick is figuring out how to work the fringe around your face to suit you.0 -

If my husband threatened to sport a pink mohawk, I'd chop my hair just to make him do that.0 -
@baconslave how are you doing? feeling any better?0

I know no one here knows what I look like, but I go shorter and shorter with my hair, and especially like it when I am cutting my hair shorter than the guys in the salon. I don't know if the clipper sizes are the same everywhere, but my recipe for success is #2 on the clipper for my sides and back, #1.5 around the bottom and around my ears, and finger width on the top.....pretty short but I love it, might go even shorter for the summer since my hairdresser really wants to shave the top too, but so far I've been skittish.....maybe next time......I still want to look like a girl.0

I'm getting a pixie tomorrow. Next step: gray hair going pastel Teal! Round face or not, I'm going to feel cool for summer!0

Yay for short hair !0

I'm frustrated with no improvement in the scale or the measurements. Got bad news about a death in the family: cancer. Then found out my dd6 needs expensive vision therapy that the insurance doesn't cover. And we already are going to be paying for braces for the oldest this year. Just did my nails and chipped the lil' *kitten*. Sigh...just life. At least I'm not fighting carb cravings, right? My calories are going to be a bit high tonight as I'm eyeing the nuts though.

Hugs...sounds like you're managing as best you can. Love that the carb cravings are managed...and that nuts are your guilty pleasure...0 -
Welcome back and glad you're feeling better. I'd do the short hair cut if I could get to the salon more than 2x a year.0
-
@baconslave i hope things seem cheerier today. I certainly can understand why all that would be a bit much for one day!!! I also am frustrated with the scale & progress. Ugh.0

I wonder how much weight I would "lose" cutting off my bootie-length hair? Just hypothetically, because while I may trim it, I LOVELOVELOVE my long hair for the first time in a decade!0
