Surprising Changes, Mentally and Physically

So I've been keto, in and out for I guess about a month, and low carb for a little over two months.
I think I must really be adapting to it as I'm beginning to have more and more energy, which is phenomenal considering I felt like I would collapse just walking up the stairs before.
I hit 156 lbs today, this is about the weight I used to maintain at, which is awesome in only two months. I would be happy here but I'd like to go for a bit lower at 145. My shorts and pants I had to buy last year because I had gain so much, fall off of me now. I never dreamed that starting this would give me those results in only two months. I actually feel I look much smaller than 156, since clothes I bought when I weighed in the 140s fit me, something definitely has changed inside more than the scale says.
Something else I've noticed lately is mentally I'm calming down, I have quite a hot temper and while I never throw or break things, I used to feel like I could. I also had the habit of not dropping a point I was trying to make until the other person understood perfectly why they were wrong. (I know not an attractive quality) but my boyfriend was really good with handling it.
Lately though, even if he does something that I think makes no sense and clearly should've been handled differently, I don't feel the need to go on and on until he concedes he was wrong, I also just find myself laughing and dropping it when he responds with something silly (his way of calming the situation) normally before that would make me even madder.
A second thing I've noticed mentally (or maybe physically) is a dramatic increase in sex drive, like to the extreme. Has anyone else noticed this and is it a possible side effect of this WOE. (sorry if this is tmi)
Good luck to you all on this journey and I hope you all find the great results you are looking for. I know I've found more than I ever expected!

I can tell you from my POV, I'm very insulin resistant, and when I was on the SAD and consumed sugar it would make my temper 10 times worse. It has to do with the sugar increases and the subsequent insulin dump and drop. Obviously this WOE keeps that from happening. The sex drive could easily be explained by your hormones leveling out. Our hormones are so interdependent and I think this WOE lends itself to more consistent hormone levels across the board. You could also be feeling really good about yourself, as you should, and that helps a lot too.0

Mentally able to handle more, without blowing my top, absolutely.
Increased sex drive? Mine was already high so I haven't noticed an increase in interest, but in...ahem, goal accomplishments within this category? Absolutely an increase in "hitting the mountaintops." Also in positions that were previously inaccessible.0 -

LMAO - I'm not quite sure how to take that comment. LOL0 -
That does make sense the hormone thing. I have thyroid issues and insulin resistance so if those are all leveling out that could be why I feel "normal" again.
It's really pretty awesome0 -
I'm all for blaming the diet for sure, but you can also look at it this way:
Diet smooths out hormones and stops the crazy insulin cycle giving you hot temper.
This in turn makes you feel calm.
To have sexual desire you need to be (realtively) relaxed.
Pair that with (likely) the great feeling towards yourself for having changed your body shape to what you desire?
Of course you wanna get it on girl!!
Way to go!0 -
When I first started keto last October, I felt great for like the first month or two. I had amazing energy and mobility. I'm happy that my weight has started to drop off, too. I was at 153 lbs at the start, and now I'm around 139 lbs on a good day. Unfortunately for me, I still have mood swings. In fact, I get very angry at work and RAGE RAGE RAGE at all the stupidity around me. I think for me, I'm just experiencing WAY too much stress in my life. Top that off with the stress of a completely different way of eating, too, and it's no surprise I can't just "keep calm and whatever on".
Slowly working out ways of de-stressing, but I think getting a new job will help a lot with that. Too bad I can't just quit and expect to survive. That car won't pay for itself, and neither will rent.
My libido went to crap years ago - but I think that's from some kinda pre-menopause thang. Who knows...I still seem to get roughly monthly cycles of puffiness and weight gain.
Edited to say that I'm happy to hear that so many of you are having positive side effects. I'm just a bit of a mess at the moment and need to detangle myself from all these stressors.

@Teneko work stress can be awful. That kind of stuff can really mess up a lot. I work with a kid who used to work a job that physically made him ill, his doctors told him all his symptoms were from stress and to find a new job. He started working with us and has no problems.
Do what you need to, I know bills have to be paid so hopefully you'll be able to find a new place soon.0 -
Thanks, auntie. Working on it. Hopefully I'll hear something back soon before I explode.
