Went a bit over

Went 300 cals over today. Went to a party, had a few glasses of prosecco and a later and larger dinner than I planned. Kept it totally low carb all day though - pleased with myself.

Help me assuage my guilt about eating 1800 calories today though (my 1200 plus 300ish exercise plus 300 unplanned). Should I try to create a 300 deficit over the next week or just chalk it up and move on? I'm finding it hard enough to eat below my 1200 plus exercise so creating a deficit might be hard.

Make me feel better about this slip up please!

I eat over my cals many times, not intentially though and I don't worry about it. 1200, especially if you exercise, is kind of on a lower side, how much do you have to lose and what is your deficit?

You kept it low carb, that's great! Tomorrow's a new day, just go back to your macros.

Thank you people. Am feeling a bit down about it. I didn't even want to eat the last meal - I wasn't hungry but we had a guest and I felt socially obliged. Stupid.

I have about 20lbs to lose and my TDEE is 1960. I walked 9000 steps for 350 calories today.

I don't count my calories. I only count carbs, but I wouldn't worry about it. In she there are days you don't eat all your calories as well

Hey, you did good. You can easily make that up by Eating just 50 cals less in the next 6 days if it bothers you, but really, I think our bodies need a little up and down. It's actually not natural to eat the same calories every day. . I know how you feel. I ate dessert last Sunday after 70 sugar free days. It tasted good, but I felt SO guilty while I ate it, that I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as I could have. Well, we aren't perfect every day, but it won't set you back much. The biggest thing it just getting back on track tomorrow.

It's behind you. Try not to feel too bad. Next time remember the feeling of success is so much greater than suffering with the guilt of slipping. Better day tomorrow and everyday after!

as long as you kept your carbs in check, you're all good.
And since you count calories, as long as you ate less than 1960, you were still ina deficit, so all good there too

One meal, one day, one month is not what got you to your worst point. And by the same balance, one meal, one day, or one month will not fix you nor derail you completely. So banish the guilt. That's worse for the waistline that a month of days like you had above. If you are working to fix your metabolism, you need to quit worrying as obsessively about the calories and eat to satiety. Some days you will be way over, some days you will be way under, but you will be learning your body's true voice again. And that's way more important than some arbitrarily set calorie goal that doesn't necessarily have any true meaning based on you being YOU....
