Good morning
The weekend is here. Always my toughest time, but I will not give in this weekend. If we go out to dinner I know what I will have (pan fried haddock with side salad). Wine? Not sure.
Going to run today, no more than 5-6K. Going to try to do a "tempo" run, not sure how that will go but I guess I'll find out. Its giving showers this morning but I'm going to go anyway, I can handle a shower. Its not doing anything yet so I might even miss it.
Sherry - I hope all your technical difficulties get solved! Nothing worse! lol Good for you taking a rest day, I am planning to do that either tomorrow or Monday. I am working on Monday so I think that might be a good day.
Laura - so glad that you are seeing some healing progress! How did your swim go, I hope it went well!
Marla - you said you were taking the day off exercise but it sounds like you got plenty in anyway. lol I will cross my fingers that the house you mentioned is still on the market when the time comes. crossing fingers!
Can't believe that is only 5*C here this morning. Guess I will have to dress a bit warmer today for my run. BRRR! Have a great weekend everyone

Had goodbye drinks with boss and other girl i work with, my last part time days are sun/mon.
Going to nia pretty soon, early class. Then do a bunch around here, doing pantry today, last cabinet in kitchen. Then going to friends for the night to watch cute little dogs. Basically do nothing but be there with them on our laps, and they are sweet and we get to use pool and jacuzzi.0 -
Maureen - I agree with Laura that rest days are important. If you don't, then you increase the risk of injury which will set you back far more than a rest day! Glad you're planning one soon!
Marla - Glad things are coming together for you! I'll be praying for your sanity during this time!
Laura - glad you're making real progress! It must be so hard to reign yourself in when you're finally starting to feel better and want to get going on your normal activites! I feel for you!
Well, woke up with a normal temp yesterday morning...only to have it it 100 by mid afternoon.. I took it easy, but whatever. I still plan on taking the kids to the zoo...mainly because they've been trapped at the house so much while I try to get my temps under control. They need to get out! I plan on heading straight to the petting zoo and just letting them pet the animals and then play at the park outside while I just sit and watch.
Hope everyone has a great day!0 -
App problems still. Lots of sticking and crashing. Gonna get on laptop later for proper check in. Meanwhile, just to say, I did 5mi run and think I have a plan to help with my recent calf problems. Back later0

Hi again, from the laptop. Y'all might get a book, because I'm a great typist on a real keyboard (vs. iPad). haha!
Maureen, thanks for all the threadstarters. It's good to plan rest days. I usually just wait and see. I know when I'm really "dreadin'" that it's time for a rest day, but I should probably plan rest days before I get that far. Hope your tempo run went well, and dinner.
Marla, good luck with all the work you have left to do and with the house search. You sound like you have a nice, cozy night planned.
val, hope you can get that temp under control. I've never heard of anything like what you've been having. The petting zoo sounds great. My lil girl told me the other day that she wanted to see "chickens in real life" and "cows in real life" and "sheep in real life". haha. Cute, but guilty Mom syndrome too, for raising kids in the city. I'll have to get them to a farm while we're in America.
Laura, you're handling yourself so well, by timing and pacing yourself. My entire life my Dad has been one of those people who goes too hard (I've never seen anyone who does as much yardwork as him without getting paid for it!), gets hurt, starts to feel a tad bit better, and then...you guessed it: goes too hard again and reinjures. Keep it up! Little by little is the way forward.
Well, I re-installed the app (thanks Laura!) and I think that fixed 1/2 my technical difficulties. But anyway, on the laptop for now. Soooo I've been having some calf issues running. The hammy problem seems to have been just because of hamstring day at the gym (only lasted 2 days). I've tried focusing on form. I've tried focusing on stretching. Stride length. You name it! Finally, I think I've figured it out (but who knows!). I think when I changed up my gym routine, to make it quicker/simpler, I dropped some hip exercises that has caused some imbalances. I'm going to try to add them back in and see what happens. At least the calf/achilles problem is not like my old, old problems back when I hurt kinda all the time. Right now it only bothers me running flat or downhill (mostly flat), but not uphill, not walking or any other time. So my runs might be shorter and my gym sessions more frequent for a little while, to try to get back in line.
Sorry for the book^ (I just love the feel of a real keyboard again! lol)

I'm on the app so this will be short. Much easier to read than type so enjoyed all of your updates.
Val wish you could start feeling better!
Marla you're really in the home stretch. Your night sounds fun.
Maureen hope your run went well.
Sherry my trainer thinks him slacking off on having me do my hip exercises as I was getting into higher mileage contributed to my injury, so I'm all for working on that. Hope that helps your calf issue.
My swim went well. No pain. Jason told me no more than 15 minutes (I asked him to set a limit) and I was ready to be done. My fitness is pretty sad after a month of not even being able to do extra walking. I'm trying to use this opportunity to really focus on my form too. I went out 3 times today to mow my lawn and my leg is tired. Not sore but it's telling me it's had enough for today. I did my rehab exercises (hips, butt & core) and my daily push-ups so I'm going to rest the remainder of the evening. Will need to finish mowing tomorrow.
I'm also committing to eating better. I have 3 days at home (Monday is a holiday here) so plenty of time to prep & cook healthy meals. Had grilled chicken, a salad & diced sweet potato baked with rosemary, garlic & onion for lunch, and will have streak & veggies for dinner. I switched my calorie goal from TDEE to MFP's system just to try that out. Can't say I won't go over but hopefully that keeps me more in check. Haven't been logging consistently either so need to get back to that.
