Protein Powder

I've been specifically instructed not to skip meals anymore, and breakfast is my kryptonite. So, I got some protein powder that meets almost all of my restrictions (not going to stress over stevia, but it doesn't have whey, soy, eggs, or pea protein). I mix a scoop in with my coffee in the morning.

The problem is, I was ravenously hungry a few hours later yesterday. I'm experimenting with adding a bit of MCT oil to see if it was just because there wasn't enough fat, but does that sound about right for basically having a shot of protein?

I have never found protein powder alone to fill me. I drink my bpc with a scoop of protein powder each morning and am full for hours, so try the mct and see if that helps.

I really like protein powder in coffee in the morning, but it doesn't keep me full, either, even when I add a bit of heavy cream. Usually I have a little bit of shaved deli ham as well (sorry if that sounds yucky for breakfast, but I live in a country with a pork-based economy and ham is everywhere;)

Fat helps. I have a smoothie for breakfast or a snack. 1.5 to 2 scoops of powder, a little HWC, and cottage cheese, cocoa powder (or a handful of blueberries or raspberries), and AS. Adding ice and water to get the right consistency. You could do cream cheese instead. Or avocado. I've done both. It's less protein but still yummy. Or you could add MCT like you are doing. Some people add an egg and say they don't even taste it. Just ideas.

I do fat bombs (BPC coconut oil and butter, pre-made) and protein powder in my coffee every morning. Keeps me full until lunch. My favorite protein powder is Quest chocolate milkshake flavor. It makes my coffee thicker and rich. Two net carbs.

I've never found it to be satisfying for any length of time. Maybe adding the fat to your bpc will do the trick.
@35in90, I love deli ham anytime of day! Is a great, easy, choice for breakfast meat!

It's outrageously expensive to me, but Mom bought it for me. Designs for Health PurePaleo, comes in vanilla and chocolate. Ordered from Amazon, $68 for 30 servings. Uses beef protein.

I don't use protein powder very often. For one it's too expensive for how much you get, but sometimes I do like making protein shakes using the chocolate flavor and adding peanut butter. I also keep vanilla powder on hand to make peanut butter fudge. It is nice to have on hand for recipes that call for it.

    yes please!!

Twibbly, remind me again why you're not just eating beef? Why the protein powder? ( know you've been having lots of trouble reacting to foods) but if you can eat protein powder from beef, can't you eat beef?

It's not quite as creamy as regular fudge, obviously, but I feel if it were it'd be higher in carbs.

I use her site quite often for new recipes. Some are recipes she's found from others and some are recipes she's tweaked from a high carb version. It's nice because she gives nutritional information for every recipe, has pictures for most and even gives her thoughts on if it's good or not.

Oh, I can eat beef. I don't feel hungry enough to COOK beef in the morning or eat solid food, really. I will, however, have coffee. I managed to cook 1 day during the week for breakfast. I'm not supposed to skip meals, so that seems the best way to get at least something substantial down since I can't have dairy either.

Drat, too much dairy & sweetener for me to sub out just yet. Ah well. Save for later. Thanks!

I love her site too! She's been at it a loooong time! And the video by Kent Altena, I was watching his Atkins videos when he was known as Beowolf (or something like that) on youtube! also a long time ago. :) Nice to see two people who's stuck with it long term.

I was told that Arbonne has a really good protein powder (again super pricey) without all the bad stuff in it... Dunno about the pea protein, but it's supposed to be fully vegetarian. I have a friend who sells this now, if you want me ask her... (Promise it's not a sales pitch - I heard about their protein powder long before my friend signed up (like she just signed up in the last few weeks, but someone told me about the powder a year ago...) I have not personally tried it, but someone on my friends list here on MFP swears by it. I honestly can't remember who since the discussion was a while back... But just another option to consider.
