A nap...

I have to admit, I love my after Saturday workout, then lunch, time for a nap!

I know we need sleep and that to be more fit and build muscle...

It just makes me laugh. I'm way more fit, about 115 lbs less of me, and in great health now. I do sleep better now. I can sleep on my back without waking up choking.

But my body has just gotten into a habit. Taking a nap on the weekends

I wonder if I should add calories back ?

Ha!

Do you have a nap time? A recharge time from the rigors of living in a calorie deficit and exercising ?

Nothing wrong with a nap, I take them sometimes on weekends too. If you need it, take it!

I nap when I get the chance. Definitely some built in time for it during the weekend.

For some reason, I'm much more in tune with my circadian rhythms. Don't know if it's diet, exercise, or other factors, but my sleep has normalized. I don't suffer nearly as much from the infamous "post-lunch dip" that I used to, but I'll still take a nap once in the while if I exhausted myself with exercise or yard work.

I wish I could nap but I can't. I feel like absolute garbage when I wake up.

Interesting so many others like a nap once in a while

It just was an "ah ha" moment for me.

I few more energetic normally, the weight loss was a big deal. I can't begin to say how different it feels weighing 100 lbs less

Maybe it is being in tune with my body?

I don't have sugar highs or crashes now. I think moderate carb diet really helped with this.

What a great group you have here.

I always take a nap after work on Saturdays since I only work until noon. My naps are longer than most people's though. Mine are usually 3-4 hours but I feel better afterwards.

I love taking a nap. I don't need to any longer, but I still enjoy the odd one here and there. I used to nap 3 times a day on my carbage WOE.

Taking a nap after lunch was regular routine for me over the weekend before LC. Now I don't feel the need to, but love to steal one when I get a chance

We have a routine in our house. Sunday is errand day. Usually we each workout first thing, stop for brunch at sweet tomatoes (salad), then do our costco run, and Sprouts, the "chemical market" (kroger) if needed. Then we head home and I start laundry and we nap. A LOT. :)
    That's the plan for tomorrow!

I took a nap today from 11am-12:30pm. but I had been up since 2:30am. I find that I have more nights where after 4 hours of sleep I'm wide awake.

Napping makes me cranky and disoriented. Even more than usual. That's saying something ;)

I love naps! Used to take them all the time in my 20s. I don't usually have time these days. I do sometimes have one that makes you feel worse. I heard once that you should keep them short eg 20 mins or long like 2 hours...how long do you nap?

Oh naps.....I try. Just when I get both of my 2 under 2 down and my head hits the pillow, one wakes but....this too shall pass. I'm just greatful for the energy this WOE has brought me.

I wake up earlier now that I'm in better shape. The weekdays are more full and more active .

But weekends do have that recharge component.

Calories are closer to maint level.

It seems to be the balance I need. It is interesting how diet exercise and rest all seem part of it.

I wanted a nap Sunday and was feeling drowsy watching a movie, so I made some tea with heavy cream and coconut oil and had enough energy to do an hour's worth of dishes by hand; plan, prep, and cook dinner; impulsively add an appetizer; wash up the cooking dishes; all while my boyfriend was taking a nap! I serious busted out a sweat washing dishes (dunno why exactly), but it felt just like a good exercise burn. I was in the ZONE! Definitely will consider this in the future because if you have thyroid problems (like I do), naps are supposed to be a no-no....

    More coconut oil lovers here

    I love that stuff

Put it in my coffee too!

I am tired today but it is workout time and no excuses

Gonna push thru it like a Ninja Turtle!

    Ha

Really, never knew that. When Hashimoto's sends mine way off, I sleep if I sit down. Actually almost fell asleep while sweeping floor once.

Naps confuse your body as to when it should be awake and sleeping. I was told that the best way to retrain your thyroid is to get up at the same time every day (even when not working), go to bed around the same time, and avoid naps. This way, the proper amount of hormones are released at the right time every time for you to be awake when you're supposed to be awake and to be able to sleep when you should be sleeping.

I know that Hashimoto's is more extreme, but I don't remember exactly how it works. Is it the one that switches back and forth between hypo and hyper?

I had a similar sit down and fall asleep thing, but it was related to eating. Turns out it was a major proof factor of me being insulin resistant (despite numbers not indicating this) and having postprandial somnolence. Scary stuff. (Resolved 98% since going LCHF, without additional medication if anyone is curious.)

I know that for my hypothyroid, medication improved my blood results, but it did not help my symptoms at all. I had to add an additional supplement to start to see any improvements. I would hope that your doctor would be open to trying things like this, but to me is scary as heck all the things that can act up, get "broken," or cease to work in our thyroid/endocrine/hormone system.

@KnitOrMiss yes Hashi's makes you swing both ways (mine is in cycles).
