I know its normal but I hate it. Makes me feel defeated :( I also gained inches as well and feel bloated (no its not TOM)

I am 217.6 lbs. 5'9. Last weeks average macros were 75% fat, 9% carbs (21 net), 21% protein. Average daily carbs were 1,461. Only difference was that I didn't do any scheduled workouts because I was fighting off a virus. Usually I do Les Mills Pump (weight lifting) 3 days a week. Surely I can lost weight at my size without any activity at all so I can't see that being a factor. I did haul feed bags down to my animals and do lots of gardening.

I HAVE been using a Walden farm product one a day which have sucralose which I normally don't eat. Could that be an issue? Maybe too much dairy from the keto cheesecake mousse? I also get about 10 cups of water a day. If anyone wants to check out my diary it should be open.

Are you ovulating? I typically saw the same "gain" when I was ovulating.

wow... I looked at your diary... is that really all you are eating? It sounds like you are going at it too fast. You really shouldn't be eating less than 1200 a day. I KNOW you want it off fast, but 6-700 a day is really unhealthy.

At 217, that's less than half what your body need to run itself. I think you are retaining water, but seriously, you are putting yourself at a disadvantage, and risk of gallstones from rapid weight loss. You shouldn't eat so little unless you are medically supervised. I hope this is the case. I think you are setting yourself up for failure. This is not sustainable.

the weight will come off, you don't have to starve. I know you may not feel hungry, but if you don't want more food, add a little more fat?. Try to get that 1200 a day. I started off around 265, and I have lost 35 pounds since March, eating between 1500 and 1800 cals a day. It might seem slow to you, but it's reasonable.

I am just trying to be supportive. I am a little worried for you...

I see more of a gain when ovulating than I do during tom. I've been sick too this week and its really been a struggle to get anywhere weight wise. I wouldn't worry too much since there are other factors at play. See how you do this week, I bet I've your feeling better you'll see a good drop.

Really glad you hear that! You should report this to MFP. It's a big discrepancy.

So, what I gather is that mfp is showing two different things? One for the "owner" and another for the "observer"? That could be a deterrent for the observer! Mfp needs to be made aware of this! Wonder how often this happens? ........!

It could also be a difference of the computer verses the app.

That happened to someone else I know on FB. She was saying that she had all her calories by lunch, but when we looked the app was shoing her sausage at 900 claories and the computer was showing it at 400

HI. You may want to cut out that walden farm thing, and see if that helps. sucralose, or other artificial sweeteners can stall some folks. I understand your frustration though. I hit a really nice loss last week, and am now holding about 5-6lbs of water - which I do regularly. lose, hold water, lose, hold water. It stinks. Just keep on doing good things for yourself, and be patient...you are in a deficit...the weight will come off.

    More of a gain? wow.
I remember a thread a couple of years ago in the sandbox where someone wondered if there were ovulation "gains" and I said yes. Someone replied (snarky) and said there was no logical reason for it, we were imagining things etc. And then another 50 or so folks replied with reports of 3-5Lbs "gains".

I found it interesting because you don't often hear about that. Just about ToM "gains". Maybe because it's a shorter duration "gain".

FWIW, I see "normal" calories when I look at your diary.

It could be a variety of different things; water retention from non-whole foods or simply body holding on to water and energy is redirected to fighting off virus...

There are way too many factors here. Hormonal fluctuations, sick (this messes EVERYTHING up), Walden Farms crap (this stuff gave me dramatically violent headaches - I will NEVER EVER EVER touch this stuff again...did I mention EVER!!!!!), no workouts while healing, and increased dairy.

There is no way to see this as one possible thing without doing elimination. That all being said, it is the big picture that matters. I had a slow creep from 241 back to 247 over a couple weeks - ended up staying up at 247 for a few more weeks despite being on task (about 6-7 weeks total), then did a huge whoosh and lost all of that in the course of a few days. My weight trending was lose a good amount, gain back about half, drop again, etc.

Take a step back and evaluate your last six weeks of progress. If the general trend is still downward, consider this week a fluke. Someone said a while back, "While you're doing arithmetic, your body is doing calculus." This fits so well here. You're trying to use linear thinking to solve a tiny problem, and maybe your body needed to hold on to something for a bit to fix something else and you'll leap forward in a week or two...

Don't let a small factor impede your overall progress.... Get out of your head a bit or you'll likely lose your sanity! (hugs)
