I have NO idea what's going on this past week. FOUR POUNDS!?!?!?!?!?! I have not changed my eating, but I have not been able to workout as usual this past week due to back issues. Walking is even painful. HOLY COW!!!
So my back is out still...very painful and uncomfy. I've been doing my stretching and walking (gently) A few days ago one of my molars starting hurting, rinsed with salt water with no relief. I see the dentist today but I discovered last night that the darn thing is wiggling..so I think I may have to have an extraction - so not what I need right now. With my back out and the possibility of a tooth extraction today, I had to back out of the challenge as I won't be able to work out enough to make it worthwhile. Super bummed.
Still eating per plan, just a lot more sedentary and dag nab...the numbers do not look good at all.
My trail run this weekend is still on...IF my back clears up. I am scheduling a massage for tomorrow night to see if that provides any improvement. Enough griping...let's go ladies...

not sure running and bad back should go together in the same sentence... sorry you are having health issues0

Light - if the back is in pain - no trail time. Not worth it since I will also need to drive 6+ hours the next day. Good news on the molar - I think. The gum is infected and he poked it, drained it and put me on two antibiotics (one is like a mouthwash rinse). So far no relief, but the tooth is not damaged or in jeopardy. I'm sure the antibiotics will kick in soon.0

This is bizarre. I posted to this thread this morning--or at least I typed out a post and thought it got added--but apparently it did not. I have had computer problems for days, but I don't think they affect anything off my work network.
Anyway, I posted my weight, which was up a couple of pounds, and lamented that this was discouraging after a few days of doing really well with eating and activity. I even did a lot stairs with my mall buddy last night so that we were both huffing and puffing. I added that I'm just going to focus on not letting this derail me.
I also commiserated with you, Lois, about the tooth issue. I was just bemoaning last night how for years my teeth were not one of my health problems, but lately, I'm running into one issue after another. Today, I got one temporary crown replaced with the permanent one and another tooth prepped for a crown. In this process, my dentist hit a vein with the lidocaine needle, which put a little bit of the medicine directly into my blood stream and caused me to have a systemic reaction (dizziness, rapid heart rate, and a little trouble breathing for a short time). That shook her up (more than me, I think) and then she knicked the inside of my cheek with the drill.
All in all not a good morning! Then I came back to more computer problems that kept me from getting much work done today. So I'm falling further behind and my deadlines don't move just because I have problems that are out of my control.
Anyway, I do hope that you can save that molar. Your sharing about it reminded me once again that the things that go on with me and make me feel "rained on" are usually things that everyone deals with at some time.
Light, thanks for the encouraging words.
I will weigh again tomorrow morning and post the pounds. I know I was 147 this morning, but for the life of me, I can't remember the ounces. That's the highest I have been in five years, which really freaks me out. It was hard to post--especially since I expected no gain at worst and really thought I might see a loss. But the one thing I've promised myself is that I'll always be honest on this board.0 -
Another day of nothing but connection problems, hours on the phone with IT folks, and more hours lost toward meeting deadlines. I'm finally taking a lunch break at 3 p.m. and wanted keep my promise to check back with my weight. The white turkey chili that I had on Tuesday must have been high in sodium, as my weight this morning was 146.2. Not the loss I had hoped for, but not the gain that showed yesterday. I know it was more than a pound higher yesterday.
Hope everyone is having a good week.0 -
coming in for my Saturday weigh in... and reluctantly I report in spite of my sticking to the calorie/meal plan and exercise/walking routine, I am up .4lbs. Ugh. What is that all about (rolling the eyes and shaking the head). It is what it is but I would have expected a loss with all the extra walking this week. Maybe it's some muscle gain... I'll assume that

So, it is what it is and I'll just keep going. I mentioned on facebook (but bringing it here for you, Sarah
) My company gets a discount with fitbit and picks up half the cost of the purchase so I'm going to take advantage of the opportunity to upgrade from my little One (which I really like) to a Surge. Why not, right? and this is as good a time as any since I can get it for right about $100. Great deal. Sarah, it sounds like it's going to function a lot like my old bodybugg. I wear it on my wrist, it has sensors and records my pulse as well as when I'm inactive/sleeping. It has a gps built in so it will measure how far I go better than estimating my stride based on my steps/height. Looks like a nice unit and I'm excited to be getting it. And as a result of my excitement and last weeks step challenge, my office has gotten excited and all but one girl placed an order for fitbit when I placed mine. We will be an office full of competing steppers, LOL
How fun is that?
Lois, I hope your tooth is better at this time... back too. For someone who backed out of the challenge, you sure gave me a run for the steps! I had such a hard time keeping ahead of you but I was NOT going to let someone with a bad back outdo me. Forget about my bad knees and bad feet, you weren't going to show me up, LOL...
Sarah, sorry for the dental issues you've had this week. Ouch! I have a rather significant dental phobia and I think this week's experience would have totally done me in.
Sorry you were having computer issues as well.
Congrats to Kelly on the stepping win (gal, you really put in a lot of steps each day!), and to Cheryl for the medals her team is now sporting.
Sheesh, hope you are having as much family fun as I am envisioning
And for any of you other group members who are listed but lurking, hello out there
May your weekend finish strong...

Hey all! We had to take our computer in for fixes, so I couldn't post all of last week. I think I weigh the same, but I'll do an official weigh in on Tuesday.
Light, I've been having way too much family (and otherwise) fun! What I need to do is get more serious about diet and fitness.
We went to the Farmers Market this morning, so I have some nice local organic produce for salads this week.
Sarah and Lois, you two freaked me out with your dental stories! I can't deal with that kind of thing. Ouch!
And back pain on top of dental pain is more than a mortal should have to bear! Take care.
Not a lot of time today, so I'll check in Tuesday. Glad my computer is back.0 -
good that you have the computer back, too... and great that you are having good family time

Computers--are they out to get us!
I'm still having problems with my work hardware, software, and connection platforms. I can do some work, but it's slow going.
Today is a good day to think about my relationship with food. It's colonoscopy prep day! So I'm on a clear liquid fast since 8 a.m. and won't get food again until tomorrow afternoon. Many days, I get busy and hardly think about food, which is why I scheduled this on a work day. But now, I'm having trouble getting to my work, so I'm not as focused as I'd actually like.
Light, it's great that you can get a good price on the Surge. Let me know what you think. I have accepted that buying another BodyMedia unit is probably not a good idea since they're phasing them out. I think Jawbone is moving away from the BodyMedia products as the trend evolves to wrist bands rather than armbands. So it's just a matter of time until they phase out, like BodyBugg did when BodyMedia bought them. Honestly, doesn't it seem like every company is bought and sold these days?
Well, have to run. Just wanted to pop in to see if there were any posts and say hello. Kelly and Cheryl, I'm glad to hear you guys are still out there "stepping!"

hope all went well with your procedure, Sarah0

Thanks, Light. It wasn't as bad as expected.
The bad will come when I get the bill. As you probably know as health provider, insurance companies have to pay for colonoscopies under the preventive care requirements, so to get around that, if a polyp is removed, it changes from preventive to treatment and they don't pay unless you've met your deductible. They found one "diminutive" polyp yesterday, and my deductible is very high, so I'm expecting a bill of two grand or more at some point. There's a special spot in hell for insurance companies and their uber-paid executives! 0 -
geesh...so not right.0
