I'm trying not to think about it too much, but I have to say that thanks to everyone here I feel pretty calm about my surgery on Monday. Knowledge is power and I feel ready for the changes that are coming my way. That's not to say there won't be tough days ahead, but I know how quickly the first few weeks will fly by. I'll do my best to give you all an update next week. I'm sure I'll have 20 new questions. Thanks for all of your wisdom and for sharing your experiences here. I'm proud to be joining your club

You've got this! This will be the best decision you ever make for your health. We're here for you when you've recovered.0

Good Luck. Walk as much as you can! My worst issue was the gas pain and the minor breakdown from protein shake overload. Had my surgery 4/27 and all of that seems like a distant memory!!0

Good luck on Monday! I'll be sending good thoughts. You will do great. And I agree, walk as much and as soon as you can!0

Tomorrow is the big day! I am praying for your surgery to go smoothly, that you have an easy recovery and that you lose weight steadily. Remember, today is a great day for pictures. That ones of your whole body, problem areas, some fully dressed to show others, some not so public for your eyes only. It's the only time you will be able to take these exact photos and it is thrilling to compare later images of your body to today. Welcome to your journey. God's blessings!

Good luck tomorrow0

I agree with @valschlecht!! As much as I didn't want to take pics, I'm now glad I did. I haven't posted them (and don't know if I ever will), but I'm so glad to have them for me. I'll also suggest taking measurements as well- I find that having those helps when the scale isn't moving, I can see that I'm still moving in the right direction. Have a wonderful day, get a good night's sleep, and good luck tomorrow!!!0

Good luck tomorrow! I hope everything goes well and you have very little pain. Please keep us posted as to how you are doing. I am still waiting to see the Dr for the first time so I have no idea what you will be going through.0 -
I had my Lapband surgery on Thursday, 6/11/15. I must say recovery is tougher than I thought it would be. But here I am day three after surgery and feeling much better. Still have a ways to go, but, I am glad I did it! Good luck on yours tomorrow!!0

Feeling overwhelmed by all of your well wishes and encouragement. It's just what I needed tonight. Thank you all. I'm ready to change my life forever and start on my healthy future. I took my measurements tonight and will get a few photos tomorrow morning. I'll keep you all posted on how things go.0

Thinking of you! Looking back to my first days post op, all I can say is it gets better every day and having surgery is one of the best decisions of my life - no regrets at all! Don't hesitate to call your surgical team or post here if you have any concerns - I called my nurse twice the first week and all I needed was reassurance.0

Surgery went well on Monday. I spent a couple of days thinking 'what the hell was I thinking.' But today I feel a bit better and can see the light at the end of the tunnel. My hospital stay was tough. The best thing I did was to pack ear plugs! It was very loud there. Nothing to drink until the next day was brutal but I had my daughter wet a washcloth to suck on a bit. Now that it's behind me I'm starting to think about a better future so that will get me through the first few weeks. I need some advice on how to get in 400-600 calories! I have an unflavored protein that Vi can add to soup and yogurt.0
-
Glad to hear you're home. In these early days worry less about calories and more about protein. Unflavored in soups is good, use a thermometer to make sure you don't go over the recommended temp as it will change the protein powder's texture. I used unflavored in cream of chicken or cream of potato soups and used skim milk to make them as well to give it a bit more of a protein boost. Be kind to yourself, for me the first 3 weeks were the hardest and it has gotten better since!0

Unjury makes a chicken soup flavored protein that I think tastes pretty good. At least when its warm. I took a sip after it had gotten cold and yuck! But warm its nice.0
-
Thank you both for the advice. I am adding the injury to cream soups. I love my soup really hot so that is a challenge but I'm just working at increasing my protein each day.0

It's tough to get enough in while it's still warm but I'm plugging away at it. Tried sugar free pudding last night and it tasted so sweet I couldn't do it. I was hoping to add unflavored protein to it but that's a no go. Thinning Greek yogurt with skim milk is good though.

I warmed skim milk in the microwave and added Chicken Soup flavor Unjury to it. Not just like a cream soup, bit I liked it.0

Good suggestion. I'll try that.0
