My name is Josie. I have 3 boys, 21, 18, and 13. I live near Boulder, Colorado, USA. I work full time as a software developer.

I have 70 pounds to lose, even to get down to a chubby 150 (which I would be happy with)! I have already lost 70 pounds using the Atkins Diet; but for over a year now all weight loss has halted! I'm very frustrated at this point, so I went to my local gym (LifeTime Fitness) to see what they could offer. They did several tests, then said I was not eating enough calories. Imagine that. They recommended a Paleo diet plan with some complex carbs, along with an exercise plan.

I am using MFP to track my food. My commitment is wavering, though. I've gained about 20 pounds back. I can't deny that I feel so much better when I eat Paleo, and cheating is not so satisfying anymore. My downfall is when I don't plan properly and then I'm too tired after work to make a meal from scratch.

Anyway, I hope interacting with the group can keep me motivated.

Thanks for listening!
Josie

Welcome to the group Josie, glad to have you join us, we are going to keep this group pretty small so that we can help and support each other much better and be able to see when someone is asking for support, issues etc. Eating enough calories is key otherwise your body thinks you are trying to starve it and it just stops losing. Glad you are getting the help you need. I know about not being organized for meals, my kids aren't always home at the same time so sometimes I prepare more then one which makes it hard not to eat all of the meals i'm making. Anything you need or just having a bad day let us know. And jump into any conversation you might want to join in. Everyone in this group is super motivating and helpful.

Hi Josie, welcome to our group - there are a few of us who are newbies here. Like you, I also have 70 pounds to lose. But first may I say a HUGE congratulations on losing 50 pounds which is still a significant amount of weight. I agree, that organization, planning and preparation is key in helping us stay on course with proper meals. I used to set one day a week for doing some bulk cooking and I'd have that ready for meals during the week with stuff I could add quickly when I got home. I'd also prepare some healthy snacks so I could grab one of those if a hunger attack grabbed me. I've heard of Paleo, but I am not really sure what it is. But hope these couple of tips help you.

Hello :-) I'm completely scatty when it comes to food. I keep my diary open so my sister in law can keep an eye because I tend to mislead myself with portion sizes lol. I rarely cook so eat what hubby cooks. Thankfully he's trying hard during the week to keep me on the straight and narrow

Awww what a sweetie pie. Bless him for doing that. It makes such a difference when your spouse or partner supports your endeavours and helps rather than hinders your progress, He rocks!

My husband truly is my soul mate and we've been together for 33 years and married 23 and he knows what I love to eat and sometimes he doesn't exactly encourage me, but the other day he came home with icecream and I was not pleased and he gives me a big smile and says "look it's only 90"calories and then I remembered why I love him so much. Husbands can be great. Then again he bought me all kinds of coolers last night just because he saw them and knows I love them, so for the past two nights he has been pouring me one but I fill the glass right up with ice and sip on it, he thinks I keep refilling my glass with more booze but it's mainly ice that melts, lol.

He is definetely trying to be better with what he gives me or buys me I think he knows i'm taking this very seriously especially since this is the longest i've stuck with it, the last time I lost 40 pounds but I was younger, now it's much harder!

Yes, I agree. I am finding it much tougher too. Sigh... If only the pounds would shed as quickly as they pile on.

I swear today he was trying to sabotage me, but he said he was just trying to give me a great afternoon, I can do that without mille feuille, beers and nachos, but nope he insisted we do all three. Good food, bad choices!

Maybe you can persuade him to treat you to non food related stuff, a mini spa, a movie date for you both, something to pamper yourself or make you feel nice perhaps. Bless him, he means well though.
