Hi, I'm Deb and have been lurking for a while now. I own an on-line business, so it takes a lot for me want to spend even more time on the computer! I am 15 years post-op failed lap band (erosion) and 14 years successful gastric sleeve. At 5'9" I weigh about 150 ish pretty consistently, but since I just turned 58 (geez how did THAT happen?? I want to get in seriously great shape, and cut a little more body fat.
In my particular case, I have to count calories on top of staying under 25 carbs. I have been ketogenic for about 3 years now and find it has had numerous health benefits, including (according to my numbers and my anti-aging/bio-identical hormone specialist do) unbelievable BG levels.
Craig over at Ruled Me blogs about the necessity (for some of us) to count calories as well as carbs, not to mention has some of the best all-time recipes so I'm a big fan. I got a link to his new 'box' program this morning if any of you have any interest. If you're not familiar these are a monthly or bi-monthly box of products to try.. in this case ketogenic food items. Don't know about you guys, but I'm all over supporting companies that are catering to how we eat, as long as it's not a bunch of tricky stuff like Dreamfields pasta! Yeah, Mark's Mayo is pricey, but it sure beats having to clean up the Cuisinart and half the time having a failed batch! Anyway, here's the link and I'll going to try and participate a bit more now that I've broken the ice http://www.ketodelivered.com/?kid=65XTR

Hi Deb. Deb here, too. I love his website and his recipes are great, aren't they. Thanks for the info.0

Use a stick blender for making mayo --- low cleanup and zero failure!0

Sorry Kirk, but have had it break that way too.. must be me! I'm all for DIY, but sometimes convenience can be a good thing too, esp. when you spend 10-12 hours a day working!0

Thanks for the info Deb. Never heard of this Ruled.me website before but I just went out there and checked it out... Love it!0

Love the recipes on Craig's site. I follow him mostly on instagram and fb, and when I see something delicious, I know I can have it...with a little work. I try to eat pretty simple Keto style, but since I've strayed so much in the past 6 months, I need to start incorporating some more complicated meals/recipes and find lots of great stuff on his sites.0

There is definitely some psychological benefit to knowing that you can pretty much have anything you want (with, as you say, "a little work") We may choose to just scarf down some lettuce wrapped cold meat in the moment, but knowing we are not truly deprived in any sense of the word, makes a big difference. My husband is absolutely wild about the sea salt dark chocolate I make, when for me, while I don't care too much about sweets, sometimes I do get bread cravings.. and the cheesy "bread" recipes I have on file do the trick beautifully, w/o kicking me out of ketosis.
