So I just saw my primary doctor...

Saw him for a knee injection. He noticed my weight and was impressed with the loss since I saw him in April. He was full of questions on how I did it, didn't seem too knowledgable on keto/ low-carb diets but he was open to learning about it and happy it's working for me. So nice to have an open-minded doc!

I saw the nurse practitioner for a check up recently and she commented on my loss also. I mentioned eating ketogenic and she acted like it was a familiar term. Didn't ask any questions. I told her part of my motivation to change my diet was to set a good example for my type 1 daughter to eat less carbs so management would be a little easier. Then my daughter texted me asking where the pork rinds were. I laughed and said "well I guess it's working. She just asked me where the pork rinds are". The nurse then said "I don't know if I would say pork rinds are exactly healthy"... I only responded "well, they are a 0 carb snack, so...."
I don't think she had a clue what I was talking about.

It is very sad that doctors know as little as they do about nutrition. Sadly, if not helped w/ a drug or surgery it is just not in their education. I have had borderline blood pressure issues for many years. I always hear the low sodium thing but reduction of carbs has far better effect on both water retention and blood pressure in my opinion.

I go for labs and checkup later this month. I am interested to see how they look. I've never had any problems with my labs but am curious about how they look. I wonder how his response to LCHF will go too.
