@glossbones @Sunny_Bunny_ I decided to have a decaf bpc since I was really low in calories too. That seemed to sustain me well through the night.

@Foamroller I drink water or tea when it happens and I'm fine it's just shocking to feel real hunger, I would usually eat at the first sign of being hungry

My weigh in this morning went great 149.8 lbs down from 152 last Friday!

Wow, that's great! and good for you that you're already able to move that boundary of not eating at first sign of hunger. Great NSV!

Your current weight (or clothing size, or whatever you use if you don't weigh):

    201 (size 18 US)

    Your Fast/Feed Schedule:

I plan on doing 16:8 schedule at least once a week. From 8pm to 1pm

    Do you take supplements?:

    Just a regular multivitamin.

Do you plan to exercise? If so, how do you expect that to impact your fasting?:

No not on fast days. Right now I'm not exercising regularly anyway.

    How you'll fast:

    Water and tea only.

What you hope to achieve by participating: Including how you'll measure it

Just hope to give my body a break and take the time to relax. Maybe do some meditating. I have a lot of stress right now in my life and it's affecting my health in many ways. I hope it makes my mood a little lighter, not just my body.

    Any previous experience with fasting:

I have previously followed a different diet plan a few years back that included 24 hour fast once a week.

Your carb/protein/fat targets (in grams) for the feeding periods:

37/98/110. I do net carbs and try to keep it below 20. I rarely hit my protein. My calories are at 1470 which seems like a good number for me. I am usually right about there or right under.

Any other comments you'd like to make:

Sorry I am late. Have been trying to find the time to write this down. I also was hesitant because since I am only 1 month into my Keto journey I have been trying not to make any major changes. But last weekend I did this fast last weekend. And I felt fine. I've done it again today. If I can do 1 day a week I will be happy. I may even extend the time depending on circumstances.

    I'm in!

    Your current weight : 183.2

    Your Fast/Feed Schedule: 16/8, 7 days a week.

Do you take supplements?: Magnesium, Calcium, Vitamin B and Potassium

Do you plan to exercise? No, I am not allowed to at this point.

How you'll fast: Water and BPC only.

What you hope to achieve by participating: I am a newbie, 6 weeks into this WOL. I want to see if this is something that I will want to continue doing. I am hoping to see some benefits from this.

Any previous experience with fasting: None.

Your carb/protein/fat targets (in grams) for the feeding periods: Carbs are set at 15 grams a day, protein at 60 grams and fat at 100 grams.

Any other comments you'd like to make: I am trying to get into the best shape that I can considering that I am not allowed to exercise. I think this WOL and this challenge may help me with that. I will need my muscles for my recovery. I am excited to do this, but as usual, I have a bit of problem getting my proteins up. I am working on it!

I didn't realize until today, that I put 16 / 8 for my fasting, I actually meant 18 / 6 for my fasting, but its too late to edit it....anyhow, I am doing 18 / 6 and everything else is the same as the above lol...sorry.

I also wanted to add that I slept last night...I mean almost 10 hours. I usually only manage 4 to 5 hours if I am lucky. Since I was usually waiting 16 hours before I ate anyway, I am wondering if the extra 2 hrs was something I needed to help with fat burning & sleep....time will tell, but the sleep was wonderful :)

The good thing about the 16:8 daily IF I've chosen is that people don't stress if you skip breakfast. I don't get any flack from anyone and I get all the benefits!

BPC would have kept me up all night, even decaf. Glad it worked for you!

Well, I'm pissed! Husband home has changed my fasting plans. I have to feed the fam all my lovely beef and pork that I was saving for myself! If they were eating pasta or pizza, I could just go on fasting, but all that meat!! I must have some! DD leaves Sunday and DH leaves Tuesday, so hopefully I can fast Mon eve-Wed morn.

That's one reason why I chose it, too. DH is nosy. So he doesn't even notice I'm skipping a meal, so I don't have to hear nonsense comments.

@toadqueen most of the 5/2 fasters don't do consecutive days. Not because it's dangerous, which it isn't unless you have blood sugar issues that make you dizzy/weak, but because it's HARD!!
    Great weigh in, @auntstephie321 !!
    I'm still avoiding the scale.
    Maybe Monday.
We lost a dear friend yesterday. I kept distracted until after my fast was over by shopping for food and drink for their family. Didn't even get tempted by the buttertarts and lemon squares!!
But I decided before I ate at the informal gathering we had at a friends that I would eat whatever, drink whatever. So a successful fast day, as I stuck to hours.
But I was way over in carbs as I ate frito's and nuts and pizza and beer and wine.
I don't regret it one bit.
Though my stomach isn't too happy with me.

I did my 16:8 fast yesterday. Actually I think it turns into more of 20:4 as I had a bit of stomach upset. I only ate one meal also. So way under in calories and woke up hungry this morning. But after eating breakfast at about 9/10 I wasn't hungry again until 7pm. So that was a positive.

I'm on day 4 of 16:8, with an 11am-7pm eating window. I cut out HWC and went to straight black coffee on Day 3. Today at breakfast was the first time it was really hard, not physically (though I was noticeably hungry), but psychologically.

On the weekends, my husband or I usually cook a big fancy breakfast for ourselves and the kids, and it's a treat we all look forward to. This morning, I got up when the kids did, my husband slept in a bit, and I made their chocolate pancakes, the last of the bacon, and scrambled eggs. I wasn't remotely tempted by the pancakes, but the bacon and eggs almost had me drooling. I stuck it out and tried to just notice the thoughts going through my mind, "what if I just skipped my fast once a week? I deserve a break..." And then let them go. Once I was away from the table and breakfast was over, it was no big deal.

Didn't follow much of a plan this weekend. I'm thinking of fasting from 9pm Monday to 9pm Tuesday to deplete my glycogen stores and then get back on my regular schedule.

I fortunately have had easy sailing with the fasting. Friday I was out til two-thirty and, even though I schedule to break my fast at noon, I was totally fine and only ate because I was going out for another five hours.

I don't log my food over the weekend generally because it adds an extra complication when I'm out and about and generally being busy with family. I decided not to fast on weekends for the same reason, but this weekend I found I naturally fasted for around 16 hours per day. I've not had problems with hunger so far until today when I was feeling sick with hunger by 11 (although wierdly I felt fine 30 mins later and didn't break my fast until 1:15).

I sometimes log on weekends but for the most part I try to focus on being present and living. It doesn't mean it doesn't cross my mind though. I did not fast on Friday or Saturday but hit my 16:8 yesterday and will be back on track today. Should be quite easy today since I'm wearing Spanx and consuming food is suddenly not so appealing.

The week went fine. Several times I discovered I was past my 18 hours, so I obviously wasn't hungry. My weight stayed exactly the same, but I lost inches. No problems.

So far pretty good with the 16.8. Because of camping it was hard to do 12 to 8 so went 1 to 9 and things worked with that window. No weight loss though and not surprised . On to week two

I broke the fast early today. It's going to sound weird, but yesterday I had one ONE 1 smoked salmon tortilla and cream cheese roll... Like, an inch thick. Couldn't figure out how to log it, didn't worry about it particularly.
Today I was ravenous. And ate ham, cream cheese tortilla roll up slices.
Like, 4 or 5 of them.
Ah, well. Carbs lead to carbs. And while a beer might be okay once in a while, bread type stuff just leaves me with cravings for MOAR.
SO, no 16/8 today. I'll start again tomorrow.
And every day I still do way better (weigh better

Gave myself a one-day break from 16:8 this morning, as I was ravenous and super hormonal. I thought my TOM was finally arriving. Not yet, turns out. I'm feeling better now. Stopped all food intake before 7pm, getting back on the horse to make it until 11am tomorrow. I might try BPC and see if I can make it longer than that.

I'm doing an unscheduled 26hr fast today. Feel great. I had to atone for my bad Sunday night. I was watching BattleBots with my friend and out came the buffalo wings... I ate too many, went WAY over on my calories, had a salad. My carb level was the highest in months (45g). I checked ketones with Ketonix this afternoon, and I was still in Ketosis. I may have slipped out, earlier in the day, IDK and I was afraid to check. My fasting got me back on track...

@DittoDan, do you think even a higher carb meal can be compensated for by waiting 16 or 17 hours before eating?
I wonder if the fact that I take PGX, regularly but not faithfully, and that it is supposed to slow down carb absorption to avoid sugar spikes, means fasting is less effective in returning me into nutritional ketosis.
Frankly, I have not weighed myself in a couple of weeks, and I'm scared to. I have not gained, but I haven't had that "I feel so good and one pound lighter feeling" either.
I want fasting to do a lot. Weight loss. Help me control when and what I eat instead of cravings and boredom. And this week my friend died, and I keep almost saying the dreaded "screw it, I'll do it later" bad self-talk stuff. I don't mind DECIDING to forego a fast schedule, but to do it willy-billy is going so many steps back.
    Sorry. Tl;dr.

I started a 48 hour fast after dinner last night, but it turns out hubby is still in town for another day, so I will probably break it at 24 to enjoy a steak with him tonight. Over the weekend I ate too much dairy (cream cheese) and berries (blue, black, rasp) and my weight rose accordingly which is why I chose to fast last night, but plans change.

Start of week two, made it through week 1 pretty well, ended up eating late into the night on Friday and didn't fast Saturday, Sunday, or Monday, plus ate a ton of carbs those three days.

Stopped eating at 10 last night, hoping to make it to 10 pm tonight, but suspect I will eat a bit sooner, should still be able to do 20-22 hours before eating. I'm thinking I should try to break it at 7 so that I can stop eating at 8 and get back on my original schedule. I guess we will see how the day goes.

Hope everyone is doing well with this. It's a fun challenge to see how far you can take it. I'm looking forward to comparing how I feel by the end of the month.

If no one objects, let's try keeping to a single thread for this whole challenge?

Tomorrow marks a week! Feel free to start reporting your experiences from your first week. Did you find it easy or hard? Did life or friends try to get in the way? Do you feel any different? Have your hunger signals changed at all?
