Jump starting weight loss again?

The post I intended for this group ended up elsewhere . . . Ah the joys of being a newby.
I'm a woman in my early 60s and have delightedly lost 41 lb since beginning of March with another 19 left. It's been a delight to see the results!
That is, until a couple of weeks ago when I hit the dreaded plateau. Am a wee bit discouraged and would greatly appreciate tips and ideas if you have successfully navigated past a plateau. How can I jump start regular weight loss again? Unfortunately, I cannot do intervals or change up exercise as I injured my back last week.
Encouragement? Suggestions? Talk to me!

Wish I could give help. I have been on the same plateau for a while an I have lost nothing --well lose 5 gain 6 back. I just want to eat, clean of course, and lose and not worry about counting.0

I some times have to go off and gain at a plateau and then I will drop.0

We had a good discussion on this a couple of months ago. I just bumped it to the top of the list for you.
You can always find older threads by hitting 'All discussions' by the list. I try to cycle them up here and there because many of our newer members never saw them.0 -
Thanks BRaye325. I read it.0

I just keep doing what I'm doing and eventually my body catches up with the program. But please don't be discouraged. A plateau is a good thing! Your body is adjusting to your new weight and activity level. You need less calories to maintain your weight than you did 40 pounds ago. I have lost 58.5 pounds since the end of April and now it is slow going. I hope to lose another 30, but I reassess every ten pounds.
If you weigh yourself everyday, log your calories - but only weigh once a week.0 -
I was watching a TV programme the other day & the medical expert mentioned only weigh yourself same time once a week, its stops discouragement & your not thinking about weight all day long. Easy to say, but very difficult to do. Especially when you scales are looking you in the eye every morning.0

It seems like I start to plateau a bit every time I get to a new decade (179, 169...) Well, right now, I'm looking for 159. I've been rolling along doing fine. Even did well while out of town. But the scales won't move out away from 160 to 160.5. It's annoying, but from experience, I know that because I'm continuing to do everything right, I will wake up any morning now and it will be there. I also know that a part of my problem is that I haven't gotten my 7 - 8 hours of sleep each night this week. That also makes a big difference for me.0

I started on January 1st at 268, I am now at 230. I have been at 230 for 6 months. My original goal was to give myself 2 years to get to 205 pounds, so I still have hope. I could get to my GW in a month if that were my only concern. The problem with that is I am quite sure I cannot maintain that weight. I am not dieting to lose weight, I am working out a way to eat that will be my life long plan. I know it can be hard, but I believe people who plateau are doing something right because the scale will move if you are not eating. After 6 months at 230, my clothes fit better, my endurance and strength have increased a great deal, and I feel much better. I think it is important to take inventory of what is happening to you physically and mentally while on this journey. Eating good will make you better over time regardless of how much you weigh. Things change too. I started in January as a 268 fat person looking to lose weight. This year I will be about 230 pounds in January with a completely different outlook. Don't stop being good to yourself and be patient. You have a lot to be encouraged about.0

Don't be discouraged. It happens to all of us. It is extremely frustrating. Tighten up the diary, make sure the calories are as close as possible, keep moving. You will get there.0

Consider visiting the maintenance board. You may find people a step or two ahead of you. If they have an open diary you could learn from them.
I have lost 62 pounds and have about another 30 to go. In the past 8 months, I have learned my challenges are unique to myself and eating healthy takes practice. Navigating social situations also takes practice. Losing weight has been a process of getting to know my needs. I have been on a campaign to treat myself better in every aspect of my life.
Feel free to add me as a friend. I am very supportive albeit imperfect.

I will probably visit the maintenance board some time next year. I have been thinking about where I want to end up and what type of weight I can maintain and I really want to keep at it for about 6 more months. I know what I need to do, I just need to do it. Am I willing? That is what I want to find out. Would love to add you as a friend.0 -

Got my 8 hours of sleep in last night and this morning I woke up with the drop I'd been looking for into the 150s. It's ultimately about living a healthy lifestyle that will last a lifetime whether I'm loosing or maintaining. Regardless, I feel better, have more energy and just enjoy life more. Don't every give up!0 -
Happy to hear that you slept well and happy that the scale # looks good.0
