Okay so after 1 week, I'm down a pound. I haven't really had any difficulty staying on my fasting/feeding schedule. Not sure if I feel better, but I like the time I save in skipping breakfast. I notice I have trouble reaching my protein goals by skipping a meal.

I'm down 0.8kg over the week, which is similar to the kind of loss I was getting when not fasting, so not sure whether this is doing much for me. I'm generally starting to feel sick with hunger around 11-11:30 am (fasting 8-12 or 9-1), I haven't really felt hunger while on regular low carb unless I've had a particularly hard exercise session. I am having no problem at all hitting my calorie target each day, I am eating a lot more at the 2 meals I do have so some days I have struggled with going too far over on calories. I'm going to give it another week but if my appetite doesn't settle down I will go back to having my BPC in the mornings to see whether it brings my hunger back in to check.

The first few days were rough, as expected. But I didn't kill anyone. I'm very frickin grouchy around noon. So I've started being a "bad mommy" and making part of my lunch first so I can have food in my belly so I may continue to not kill people.
One day I just did a 14:10, due to a kid appt interfering with our normal schedule, so that I won't kill people I don't know in public.
I'm starting to get used to not eating in the morning. Finally. Don't get in my way at noon though.

Weight is up 1lb. Which means nothing I can figure in particular. I think I'm moving into another stall pattern again like in April. So I bounce all around some weight for awhile. I'm beginning to question whether or not pursuing my goal weight is worth all the aggravation. I want to be 150. Being tall, I carry weight well, but the chub still on my thighs and belly bugs me. But it's probably going to take me another 6mo just to lose 10lb, unless I want to slash my calories big time. Who the heck wants to do that? I like to eat.

On the positive side, having the bulk of my cals available toward the end of the day is nice and is helping me keep from blowing out the calories. I eliminated the CO in my BPC, which gives me over 100 extra calories I can use elsewhere in the day. Even though I love it, it had to go again for the time being. It didn't help the wanting to kill during the end of the fasting window any, and I'd really rather eat an oz of cheese or have some meat for those cals. I'm starting to adjust, so I have no irrational growling bottomless monster in my tummy as I try to sleep. Which is good. Definitely another positive tally mark.

While I wait for my scale-gnome to shake off his bender, I'll keep IFing-either 16:8 or 14:10 (if life intervenes as it is wont to do), and working out. I've been having trouble with muscle recovery lately, and I'm not sure why. I can't tell if it's just a flare of the dumb ol' Chronic Fatigue or something else. But I need an extra day to recover from the bodyweight workouts. I still get the same number of them in, I just have to spread them out more. But that has nothing to do with IF. I've been having issues with that for 2 months. Which coincidentally coincides with the amount of time I've been using an every-10-days refeed. Hmmm...things to think about...

Anyway...the nonsensical blabber will cease now, much to your relief.
    Happy IFing everyone.

No problem with the IF itself. I , too, have trouble with my protein goals, but I am working on it. Yesterday I was down .5lb and today I am up 1.2lbs...lol...so I guess so far is same old same old for me. I had salad yesterday at Olive Garden and maybe something in the dressing that I didn't know about. I am eager to see what the outcome of this after 30 days is going to be...

I'm not down anything from IF though I didn't expect to be. I am pondering whether I am going to stick with this after last night's blunder of eating a burger followed by a pretzel bun followed by the crust of a pizza followed by some steak. I didn't eat this morning until lunch so I fasted again and felt fine. I'm just not seeing what the benefits are and quite frankly can't remember what they are supposed to be. Then I read this today and really started questioning the purpose. "I am reminding myself that life is not an exercise in maintaining control."

So kind people, please remind me. Why are we doing this? More fat burning? More weight loss? To prove we feel hunger and can tolerate it? Enlighten me again. #YoureADivaWhenYoureHungry

    I can
only say why I am doing this. I am hoping for some more fat burning and maybe some weight loss, but as I burn fat, I lose inches, so I am fine with that even if the scale doesn't move. . I am hoping for a little more energy as my body learns to burn fat efficiently. I am not feeling any hunger and I would never do anything to make myself feel hunger. . These are my reasons only, maybe not someone else's reasons. . My feelings are also that if you are hungry, eat! I don't feel that anyone should be learning how to tolerate hunger with this. . It's different things to different people, but it is not a punishment. I learned to tolerate hunger on cico and will never do that again. If you are hungry, eat. (IMHO)

My problem is not that I feel hunger during the fast. It's that I feel an insatiable hunger during the eating portion. I don't need to feel hunger to know I get hungry. Like you, I've done that before - unsuccessfully, I will add. Thanks for filling me on the fat burning thoughts!

    Accidentally ate 22:2 today.

I had dinner some time before 7pm yesterday. I was out all day until 5pm. My wife and son ate, but the crappy places they picked didn't have any options I wanted. So, I got home and cooked up a pound of beef and warmed up about 8-10 ribs. Then I devoured them over the next couple hours.

lol, I know this doesn't really count. It would only count if I did this every day.

I'm having some trouble. I feel good and after a longer fast yesterday I waited till noon to eat today. My appetite is subsiding but by the time I ate dinner it was almost eight which is the end of my window. Now I'm low on calories, fat and protein, I'm not really hungry but I don't want to continually under eat by this much. We just have weird schedules so we are used to eating later in the day but my lunch at work is at noon so if I don't eat then I won't have a chance til I'm out of work.

I don't know what to do

I am new to IF, so I am not sure if my expectations will be met or not, but, I am OK if they don't happen. I am sometimes very hungry when I break my fast, so I try to eat something really fatty to start. Do you drink BPC? The fat in it holds me over until its time for me to eat. I probably couldn't do this without BPC...

I had no difficulty fasting 2 days the first week. I just find it boring. I wanted to do two days simultaneously but I took a friend out for his birthday right in the middle. That was my choice to take him out. I live alone and work mostly from home, so I am able to do this with minimal interference. I definitely feel better fasting. I lost about 1.5 lbs I think. I have food sensitivities and fasting is a way to eliminate them all. I no longer have hunger signals.

I started the first fast of week 2 today. I am going for a 48 hour fast to knock it out of the way for the week. I may do another day later in the week. I almost ate dinner after work today just by habit. I got home from work and immediately went to the refrigerator to get my daily chicken broth and chicken. I still have no hunger sensations.

    Good luck everyone!

Someone wrote about eating too many calories during the two or one meals. That's what I am doing.
(Not counting yesterday, which was a disaster of freak show proportions, and NOTHING to do with IF or low carb. Just a bad day. )
It's still just me, eating too much, even of the right stuff, because I haven't conquered the STOPPING part.
I fasted from 11pm last night until after 930 tonight. But this means I can't eat until 230 or 3 tomorrow. Inconvenient.

    No weigh in yet. Soon.

I had a tablespoon of double cream in my coffee this morning to try and curb the 11 o'clock hunger pains. Fingers crossed so far it's working. I feel hungry but I don't want to chew my own arm off, so maybe I just needed the small amount of fat to calm my stomach. I will see whether this also controls the desire to fill my face for the 8 hours I'm not fasting! I may consider swapping the coffee for chicken broth with a spoonful of cream tomorrow - yesterday I was so low on sodium I was eating salt straight out of the tub while I was sitting at work.

To all of you experiencing adjusting annoyances, know that like anything in life IF have some growing pains to conquer. If you wanna throw in the towel, that's ok. The body is a very conservative entity, it does NOT like abrupt changes, whether it is a very hard workout session (more DOMS) or not being fed, when you routinely feed it. It will protest. But I assure you, if you're able to endure, the prize of not being bound by any feeding schedule, the sense of freedom it gives, is priceless.

Concerning weight loss, you still need a caloric deficit, IF makes it easier to achieve caloric deficit, cause you tend to eat less after adjusting. Some people need a more aggressive protocol like 4:3 or EOD or feeding windows like 22:1, 24:1. I'll repeat an important trick: When having a hard time staying on course, take ONE TINY bite of something, a gherkin, piece of protein etc. It can often buy more time in fasted state.

Oh, and another thing: if very grumpy or other weird stuff going on, take more electrolytes, especially salt. You need more lytes when fasting. I seriously eat as much salt as I can muster. Yesterday almost shuddered eating the salty, cured ham, 400g of kimchi, pork rinds and what not of salty stuff. Today I'm down a pound in weight (from yesterday) and an inch in tummy (since 12 days ago). I guess I'm spending all the salt I consume.

    Edit: minor details.

@Foam roller, excellent advice! I ended up eating a tablespoon of coconut oil the other day and it got me through. I had actually forgotten about that until now lol. Great job on losing the pound and the inch, too. Its a wonderful feeling, isn't it?!

My latest attempt at 48 has been in fits and starts. Despite deciding to start last night, I found myself in the kitchen grabbing more food! So, I planned to start at 11pm, but my daughter made bacon this morning and...well, you know...bacon ;) So I started at 11am today instead. MUCH harder. Usually I start at night and sleep through a big chunk of the first several hours, after which it gets easier for me. I kept wandering into the kitchen today and although I did not eat, it was distracting to have to keep reminding myself not to eat! From now on, I will begin a fast after an evening meal.

I'm 37 hours into this week's fast right now, planning on breaking fast at lunch today with my wife at our favorite Indian restaurant - their buffet in this state could be dangerous! Last time I fasted into the 2nd day, the 2nd morning was pretty easy, but this time I feel light headed & a bit dizzy, but thankfully, hunger is actually less now than yesterday. No cream & coconut oil in coffee this morning - perhaps I should treat myself on the 2nd morning next time? I'm glad its quiet at work this morning.

Make sure you get enough sodium on long fasts. I drink broth or pickle juice when I start to feel light-headed.

Sorry for the late check-in. I seem to be in Plateauville, both in terms of weight and measurements. My below-waist measurement is the only one that budged this week, a whole inch down, though maybe that's a measurement fluke.

I can get through the 16:8 fast just fine, but I have been back to one cup of coffee with HWC as a crutch.

I've done 2 fasts this week. The 16:8 works fine for me. Just skip breakfast is all.

I am finding that I'm eating more between dinner and dessert than my hunger calls for, because I can't "wait and see" if I'm hungry later, and it's 45 minutes til I fast again...

That's more to do with my judgement and discipline, though. And that delicious keto chocolate torte my husband made. But my husband brought in enough of a drink mix we heard about to make me one, too, and I easily declined due to the fasting. I think if I had just been trying to restrict my totals I would have caved for it.

I'm thinking of trying a couple of longer fasts this week instead of 16:8 which had actually turned into 15:9. We eat dinner so late normally that I find I'm running out of time by 8 o'clock.

I think it might be easier for me to fast from 10 at night after dinner, till I get out of work at 5pm. So I guess that would be 19:5.

I'm still working out the kinks. For instance, I'm wasting food at home and having to throw it out as I am at work for a fair chunk of my eating hours. So, I need to plan better.
I also have to go look up if a hard boiled egg breaks the fast...

I started this IF challenge just to challenge myself. To see if I could do it. Finally today I read all the literature at the top and have a better understanding of what IF is supposed to do. My goal is to do this a min of once a week. So far I have been doing it 2 days a week with no problems. I also decided not to weigh myself this weekend as I am a chronic weigher. And unlike most posts I see I have lost lbs but m clothes do not fit any better. I had a tough time with that yesterday but I never did measure myself before I started and I realize if 1 inch was lost I may not notice that in my pants. Today I am feeling more refreshed and determined. Happy Sunday everyone.
