Pros & hypothyroidism

so I am not your typical PCOS & hypothyroidism sufferer. I am thin and don't have a lot of acne nor do I suffer from excess body hair. I am on synthroid now and my endo prescribed me Yaz. I haven't been on bc pills since I was 27 and I feel reluctant to get on them but I have high androgens and my hormone ratio is almost 4:1. So my question is has anyone else had trouble or success on Yaz and working out. I guess I am most concerned about blood clots although I have never smoked I hardly ever drink and I eat pretty clean. I am about to be 39 in a few days. Anyone got any advice? Or experiences?

No experience with PCOS but yes to hypo. I too am perceived as thin but I really work hard to keep it that way. I have to keep myself under treated which is even harder. Have been at it hard for 30 days and only lost 2-4 permanent pounds.

I took Yasmine, with the same hormones as Yaz, for years, with no problems. I loved it because I had to take the pill for endometriosis, and all the other pills had horrible side effects for me. I'm a nonsmoker with no personal or family history of blood clots. It does tend to act as a bit of a diuretic, so it's important to drink enough water.

So bummed. I am know gaining weight in spite of doing everything right, exercising like a maniac, and increasing synthroid. Can't wait for the med to get in the system and start helping me out. I will be down if I keep gaining at this rate.

I gained over 50 lbs in 3 weeks & even though I knew something was wrong since I'd always been average weight, my doc messed up & didn't do all the thyroid tests & said it was my eating so went 2 years undiagnosed. I joined WW, starved myself at a strict 2000 cal diet daily & exercised up to 3 hrs daily (which is the limit I found out on WIFit btw!) Was correctly diagnosed with Hashimoto's Disease, had to increase Synthroid 3x but w/personal trainer, lost 55 lbs in only 6 months so don't get discouraged & don't miss any meds 'cause weight will creep up ( I found the hard way.)

Thank you. I am currently adjusting meds but it takes so long. I have three more weeks to see if it's enough. So far no difference. I too have fought a hard battle so if I could burn it off I would. Before this I had weight management mastered. So frustrating.

I lost 15 pounds after I started taking synthroid, for Hashimoto's, but, honestly, it didn't happen for a few years, and I don't think it had anything to do with the medication. I was happier, got out and socialized more, and I got involved in projects that kept me busy and active. You may have a different experience, and drop weight just from having normal thyroid hormone levels.
