Iron

With NM, I always was fine on iron. With MFP, I seldom have "enough" but have not changed my eating that I know of. Would anyone know the differences?

No, I'm just commenting to follow.
To show you where my mind is...I saw "Iron" and thought of my laundry, do I need to iron that? or will it come out of the dryer wrinkle free?0 -
Mine better come out of the dryer without too many wrinkles - I very seldom iron.0

I hate to iron! I use mine about once every year or so...0

I guess you're not going to get any real help with your iron, Debora. We're all thinking the wrong kind of iron.0

I've not been too worried about it - just curious. And the thread was a lot more fun this way.0

Hey Debora, how's your Iron doing? Every since you mentioned this, I decided to watch mine a little closer and I have been falling short on that as well. I guess it's time to get out my Blackstrap Molasses.
I just wish that MFP would actually show more than just 5 nutrition's to track at a time.0 -
Iron's about the same. I just quit thinking about it. I use the blackstrap molasses. I'm still grateful for all I learned from NM but when it's not all showing, it's easier to fudge.0

I'm way below the required iron intake with MFP. I've taken supplements before so that's an option. Working toward getting eating habits to NM levels, since I got off track without it. Still learning!0

There's always the old blackstrap molasses Loretta!0

I do not have this problem, but NM trained me to focus on iron and calcium. I eat gluten free oats from trader joe's most morning, and for some reason they have ~25% of my iron intake. Plus, I drink a soy milk that has high iron, eat lots of beans, etc. Recently I started putting a plant-based protein powder in my smoothies, and that has a large amount of iron. Ran out of blackstrap molasses, but that was definitely a trick.. mmm... I love pumpkin puree mixed with soy milk and molasses! Yum! (Can you tell I'm a bit hungry? haha)0

Great to see you here Leona! Those sound like some great ideas! I don't do soy milk but I'll have to see how much iron the almond, hemp and oat milks we use have in them. I need to get into the habit of putting pumpkin puree in more stuff too.0
