Weigh-in July 14

Thought I'd start the thread and use yesterday's date since I think some folks weigh on Tuesday, although I totally forgot to weigh this morning. We got in bed later than hoped because we watched the All-Star game last night and after that was over, we still had a few things to accomplish before turning in. So it was after midnight when we got into bed, and morning came fast. My plan to get up a half hour early didn't pan out, and we had a lot to do before work started at 9 a.m. We had to walk our neighbor's dog and feed their cat, get lights off and blinds open at their house (we're pet sitting and watching their house while they're at the beach), and we also had to get one of the cars in for some routine maintenance.
When we got back from that, I dashed out to walk, although I had only 40 minutes. But at least this is 3 days in a row that I have walked before work. As feared, hubby did not go. Says he has shin splints. Honestly--it's always something with him. I think being naturally thin is not always a good thing. Less motivation.
Anyway, I will weigh tomorrow morning, and hopefully I'm not 146.0 again. Oops, I had better restate that. I will weigh tomorrow morning, and hopefully I'm less than 146.0!

Well, I did it again. My phone rang this morning before my usual work time, and it was a coworker needing help. So I sat down at my desk in my PJ's (something I try not to do) and it was 1 p.m. before I got up again. I jumped into some jeans, grabbed a sandwich for lunch, and ran out to the farmer's market. It was not until I got home that I remembered that I didn't weigh. I actually thought about it about two minutes before I got up to get dressed, but lately, things can leave my brain that fast! Old age or just to much to do--it doesn't matter. Don't interrupt a thought, or---poof, it's gone!

Hope someone checks in soon. It's lonely in here!0 -
I'm back... Again!! Sorry I've been away so long and not posting, but I'm really going to try get back at this. I found my motivation this week and it's been missing for so long that I almost put up missing posters

Anywho... so I recently changed my work schedule and I drive Monday's, work Tuesday to Tuesday, then drive home Tuesday, therefore I'm changing my weigh in day's to Monday's.
So.. on Monday, July 13th, I weighed in knowing that it would not be good and it actually wasn't as bad as I thought. 150.9lbs. There.. I said it. That's my new starting weight. As of today, I'm already back down to 149lbs.
Why did I gain this weight? Well.. I started a new relationship at the beginning of May and that just threw me off. That new relationship weight gain is the truth. I'm finally getting back to remembering that it's important to be healthy and accountable, so.. after many years of wanting to get into running, I've finally started it. Slowly but at least I'm doing it. I ran 2 days in a row for 2.78miles one day and 2.97 miles yesterday. Woot Woot! Today will be a weight workout with a walk on the treadmill to warm up.
Ok.. now that I've posted. I'm going to read what everyone has had to say while I've been gone. I've missed you gals!

OK Ladies...I'm sorry but I'm going to be MIA until Aug 3 i think. Life is just too crazy with the MIL. I leave next weds to take her back to Cali...then back to work on Monday...then back to Cali the following weekend. I've not been eating properly AT ALL. I'm not quite as active as I should be, but i am not sitting on the couch...so there's a plus. I'm struggling to get 10k steps in, but I'm not giving up my strength training to complete it...so yeah. I hope you understand. I WILL BE BACK. I'm on FB and the fitbit stuff as best as I can.

Kelly, I was so excited to see your post. I have missed you on the boards. I can so relate to gaining a bit when life is good. I often say that when things are really bad or things are really good, I need to be extra vigilant. In either case, I get off track. And my weight seems to have edged up too. I didn't weigh until after I ate today, but it was 146.8--so that's a disappointment. MY BFF is coming in from California in a few weeks, and I wanted to have comfortable waist bands at least!
Lois, I'm sorry that life is squeezing on you. It's difficult as parents age. Check in as you can, and do the best you can, and know that we're all in your corner.
Well, the pet sitting of the dog and cat are over, and on Sunday different kitty sitting starts (the two next door for the last time, since those are my beloved neighbors who are moving soon). Tonight it's volunteer work again with a hubby who is cranky because he couldn't sleep last night. Don't know what possessed him to drink two cups of coffee at 9 p.m.

I can't remember if I ever shared that video with you ladies before or not, but this is where I work. It gives you a better idea of how far I walk to and from work each day, 4 times a day. From the red roofed building to the generating station building by the water. Not far at all, but every step counts. Just thought I'd share!
Thanks Sarah! I know what these boards can be like when no one is posting and you really want to read how everyone is doing or your looking for support. I'll do the best I can to post.
Don't forget to remember YOU Lois! I'll watch for ya on Facebook.0 -
Hello all. . sorry I've been such a sporadic poster lately. Summer is as busy for us as ever! Heading to Portland this coming week to visit and help kids with furniture arrangement in their new home there. They had a lot of trouble getting closed on the house! But, they're finally in, movers came, etc. Now, daughter needs help with her girls and unpacking, etc.
I totally missed weigh in day. Today:
SW: 156
LW: 136.5
TW: 137.0
I'm glad I'm still maintaining in the same range for quite a while, but I really want to get below 130!!! Ever so elusive, but it makes such a difference around my middle! Like you say, Sarah, comfortable waist bands at least.
Sarah, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Was it last weekend? We've had a few birthdays on these boards over the years . . we're not getting older, we're getting better
Your comment about "always something" with your hubby made me chuckle. I'm often quoting a line from "Joe Vs. The Volcano" to my husband, where Meg Ryan says to Tom Hanks, "It's always going to be SOMETHING with you, isn't it Joe?!" I love that movie!
Definitely in my top 5 favs.
Lois, you're a caregiving heroine. It is SO hard. Remember that even 10 minutes a day of self care is better than nothing. Glad you're staying active.
I'll look for you here in early August, and be thinking of you until then.
Kelly, it's great to hear you're in a new relationship.
And, starting a running program! Good for you! It's good you mentioned your warm-up on the treadmill. I started warming up for a good 15 minutes prior to workouts, and it has really made a big difference for me. No shin splints, not as much soreness, etc. I highly recommend it, especially since you've had an achilles injury. I start with the feet, and warm up all the way up the body until I break a little sweat. I only stretch at the end of my workout for about 5 minutes. Works well.

Sorry to have gone missing, too... Work has been busy, we've been short staffed (what else is new?) and in the middle of trying to keep up with everything and get my steps in for the challenge, I came down sick with a chest cold. Bummer and it sure put a damper on everything. Totally forgot the weigh in last week. I seem to be maintaining between 181-182, up and down with the same 1/2-1 lb. Need to change something as goal was to be 178 by now and I'm just not there. It takes so much time to put in 10,000 steps everyday that I don't have time for my general exercises and I really need to get those back in my routine, too. So, for the next couple of weeks, I'm going to focus on that and slack off on the steps.
Sarah, I don't remember if I wished you a happy birthday or not, so if I missed it, let me wish you happy birthday now. If this is a repeat, then consider it taking your birthday to a second inning
Lois, you sure have a lot on your plate right now... your mil is lucky to have you. Hope everything goes well, you remain safe in your travels and all is accomplished that needs to be (((hugs)))
Kelly, I don't remember you sharing the link before but it was really interesting. Good news about the new relationship AND the new motivation
Sheesh, sounds lie you've been pretty busy but it sounds like all good stuff and family time, even if you end up working thru a lot of it
and speaking of work, I've got some dishes in the sin that won't wash themselves and then I need to change and et my exercises done. Hope everyone's today will go well and that the start of the new week will bring fresh motivation to each of us0
