good morning lovely people.....i am a 26 year mother who would like to lose about 20 pounds.....i find that finding motivation is very hard for me......and that running around with a 4 year old all day isn't exactly a "good way" to loose some weight.....i have just started waking up at 5:30 to work out before the kid gets up for his day, and even tho today i worked out very well some days are not so motivational....how do you find your motivation to work out.
Thanks - Kay (:

I am also having some hard time motivating myself because I leave the house around 5:30 to get to work and I don't come back till 7:30-8pm. Being a desk job and jumping up and down frantically whenever something goes wrong is the only exercise I get of the day and by the time I get home I grab food at the deli for me and my husband then go to sleep lol But for me, I think small changes helped! When I head to work, instead of escalators, I take the stairs and tell myself it is my gluts workout lol This week I am going to try to get off one subway stop early and walk to work. I think when I was too hard on myself was when I got unmotivated...days I worked out well, I would feel great and when I missed it I would get really dthings isappointed at myself. So for my sanity, I decided to be thankful for even the smallest decisions I told myself is progress! I mean taking care of a 4 year old is physically and mentally tiring. So if you worked out separately even twice a week, you should be patting yourself on your back (at least I think  )

Sometimes I imagine every choice I make as being steps that take me closer to my goal...or further away from my goal. I try not to get too focused on the whole big picture, but rather in doing the next thing. I might ask myself, "If I sit on the couch instead of exercising, will this bring me closer to my goal or further away from my goal?" Or "If I order pizza instead of taking the time to cook dinner, will that bring me closer to my goal or further away from my goal?"

For me, breaking it down into smaller decisions and putting those decisions in perspective helps.

Michele I love that! I'm gonna use it when I'm tempted to eat when I'm out of calories.

I also love the thinking of each step!

I wear a pedometer and find it really helpful for activities throughout the day. I also focus on building habits. I now am very used to going to the gym in the morning and miss it on my day off.

Purposeful mental training can really help also. Try reading out loud a note card each evening that says something about your motivation to go workout. Say it in the present and positive such as, "I chose to workout each morning because I value my health and do things to help myself be attractive." Of course, use whatever your true motivation reasons are.
