Laura - I'm going to read your blog post later but this running test you did has intrigued me and I've looked into a few places in Phoenix that do similar things. I figure if I'm seriously considering a full marathon that having my running evaluated like that would really help my training. It's funny your cat sitting...I'm dog sitting. The dog already peed on our carpet. The other problem is he is used to having food left out all the time. Our dogs we can't do that so he ends up just not eating when he's here because he just stares at me when I set his food out. I probably won't watch him again as he also is very young and keeps trying to play with our super old dog who is having some health issues. So probably best to wait until our dogs pass to do any more dog sitting.

Marla - Praying that the inspection Tuesday goes very well! It would be disappointing to have gotten so close and then not have the house.

So went to my parents house. Thought we were grilling out, but instead it was piles of super u healthy appetizers. I ate a few mini corn dogs and then ate piles of fruit to try and fill me up. It was rough but I think I did okay. Today our church is having pizza at a lunch for the children's workers. I'm now planning on not eating there but attending the meeting and then eating lunch when I get home. Two days in a row of iffy food led to that decision as I don't want a third day of junk.

Got up super early so I can get my bike ride in before the sun rises. It hit 116 yesterday and supposed to be similar temps today! Ugh. I also am doing some strength training tonight. Have a great end to your weekend!

Wow dog and cat sitting...we have done our share but since we only have cats that wouldnt like any dogs we always did it at our friends house.

Going To Y today to swim and do treadmill first. Y is closed all week after that for yearly maintenance, i am going to go nuts this week!

I wasnt going to go on long one day trip to coast for inspection Tuesday but i might, they are predicting 108 that day and i would be left with car that has no air.

I am taking eating one meal and day at a time, dinner and nights harder for me, not having much to do here makes it hard to turn to other things. I am boredom and emotional eating lately. My new group for that is starting a challenge in Sept not for dieting but gets points for not emotionally eating and eating for hunger only.

Marla that challenge sounds like a good one. Put the focus on smart decisions. Praying too the inspection goes well on Tuesday. I struggled a lot with eating after my injury when I was restricted from activity. Like you said the boredom got to me.

Val you did great at the party. I love appetizers so that would have been a big challenge for me. Sorry the dog sitting isn't going well.

Visiting cat is still mostly hiding in my basement but she's starting to relax so hopefully by tomorrow she'll come out. I go down periodically and talk to her, and today she's letting me pet her.

The humidity finally dropped here. It was a horrid 88% on my run this morning. It's now down to 35%. I didn't think it was supposed to drop until tonight or I would have waited to run. It feels so much more comfortable. The past few days have been sticky.

I went to the track to run to practice running at a set cadence, and that was interesting. I'm currently running 3 7-min intervals with 2-min walk breaks, plus a warmup & cooldown walk. My first run interval I ran about a minute to set my pace, then turned on the metronome app. I could feel the difference right away in how I was landing, but I felt like I was working harder and I was going so slow. Second run I went out on the road (1/3 of my runs are currently on pavement), and that felt a little easier, and the third run back on the track felt great. My pace the third interval was 1:20 min/mile faster than the first but felt a lot easier, so I'm thinking I needed to get used to the cadence both physically and mentally -- getting past that "this seems so fast" mindset. I had to keep reminding myself that first interval my pace wasn't supposed to be faster, just my cadence. My third interval is still slow from where I was pre-injury but it was closer. I'm using the interval program on my Garmin so it beeps to let me know when to walk/run, and also gives me pace by interval not just per mile.
