so mfp has only allowed me 1200 calories per day because of my sedentary life style aka desk job. Do you guys add your exercise in here as well and use those extra calories to be able to eat a little more? Any other eating plan I have done allows me around 1400. 1200 seems a little low to me.

Mfp estimates are ALWAYS way lower than anywhere else. There's a few ways to go- there's the Harris Benedict formula ( which is what KA swears by) and you can google pretty easily, or another way is to just add a zero to your weight. Ie: 160lb person-- eat 1600 calories. Change your increments by 10's. And for either of those, don't log your exercise. It's more of a "lifestyle" thing. You can change the goal that Mfp gives you in Settings, under Goals, then something about Custom setting or other. You can change your macro percentages in there too.0

What do you suggest the macro settings be? I feel 50% for carbs is high and protein at 20% is low.0

I vary- 40/30/30 is pretty standard. I think mine is at 50/25/25 right now. I just make it that my carbs are not processed grain garbage.
