I have a 865 drive ahead of me Monday then again on Saturday. Also going to be in a hotel all week (for work). What can I eat on the road? Cant eat a salad while I drive. Would be hard to get a hamburger and not eat the bun. arg!!!!! Going to try to pack some food for drive there, coming back home I wont be able to. I travel a lot for work and thats what gets me.

On a side not, just had salami, cheese and pork rinds for lunch. Still doesnt feel right :)

Pork rinds don't often feel right to me.LOL Don't know what it is about them...

I tend to pack a lot of food when I travel because we can't eat out easily due to food sensitivities. We skipp buying foods and bring everything.

On Sunday I have a 700km drive planned with my boys. We'll pack lots of nuts, veggies, cheese dip, cheese, pepperoni sticks, kielbasa, peanut butter, and I travel with a couple of coffees that have coconut cream and protein powder in then - a meal in itself.

    Have a good trip. :)

You can't stop for 10-15 minutes, long enough to eat the salad? Take cheese sticks & nuts in the car to snack on. Stop in a deli or sub shop for some hard boiled eggs and cold cuts?

I have mastered eating both salads and bunless burgers on the road, but the easiest fast food is probably chicken fingers.

I usually snack on nuts and toasted coconut flakes. Protein bars or pork rinds occasionally.

Or you can just stop at a restaurant and eat a real meal. :)

When I travel I eat Bacon jerky (lower carb than beef jerky), Quest bars, Atkins bars if i must but not my favorite, individual packs of olives, nuts-almonds and macadamias. None of that needs to be refrigerated. You can keep hard cheeses out for several hours (I've heard longer but I just cant).

In a cooler, string cheese, cheese cubes, cheese slices, pre-cooked bacon, deli meats, hard boiled eggs, etc

I could stop but I dont. I just want to get there. Make this trip 2-3 times a year. I'll have nuts and quest bars for sure. Probably get some string cheese too and jerky. I went out with some guys at work the other day to jimmy johns. They didnt have salad but they had unwich. It was a lettuce wrap instead of bread. I'll do ok once I get there, I'm just thinking fast and relatively easy for the car. Didnt know that about five guys. Love their burgers.

Hard boiled eggs, pepperoni, jerky (all things that have been mentioned so, sorry, not very helpful). Fatburger will also do a burger in a lettuce wrap - they are my fav!!

I also like to just drive and not make long stops, so I understand. But I do stop long enough to eat the fast food quickly and get right back on the road again. It doesn't take that long to just eat and go. I don't like to try to eat a meal while driving aside from snack type food.

You might try having a larger meal before you go and pushing a water/salt fast through most of your travel... Otherwise, snacks above. Macadamia nuts are great, but you really have to portion them. A lot of grocery stores now have salami wrapped around mozzarella in prepared packages. You could dump some of those in a cooler... If you need crunch, pepperoni chips are great (just cook pepperoni in micro or oven until crisp)...but pepperoni, sharp cheese and pickles together. lunch meat slathered with cream cheese rolled around a pickle can also be prepped and easy to grab from a front seat cooler.

Tuna in a foil pouch is doable for me if I take a spoon. When alone I am bad about only stopping when fuel is required. Almonds, carefully selected beef jerky, smoked pork links, etc can work. I down a bottle of water about 30 minutes before a pit stop. Have a safe trip.

You know my stomach and hunger feeing is like a sleeping dog. If I don't eat it takes a while to get hungry.

For long trips I just don't eat till around 2 if I leave in the morning

If I eat breakfast I'm hungry a few hours later

No sense poking the bear. Let it sleep!!

Take bottles of water to fill your shaker cup (pull over for 2 minutes to do this) and add your fave protein powder and oil (coconut or I use Udo's Oil - Research suggests that EFAs can improve various biochemical and physiological reactions in the body and enhance athletic performance.* When present in adequate and balanced amounts EFAs may:
    •Improve stamina and endurance*
•Decrease recovery time after exercise and competition*
•Improve protein and amino acid utilization to help build and maintain lean mass*
    •Increase metabolic rate*
    •Improve oxygen uptake and utilization*
    •Optimize glandular function*
    •Heighten reflexes and concentration*

Shake it up, and drink on the go.

Chik-fil-a has breadless chicken nuggets. Delicious! But in order to get my fat my go to for fast food is Wendy's double baconator with no ketchup, no bun. :yum: To die for. If it's hard for you to resist the bread temptation, I'd stick to places that do lettuce wraps i.e. carls jr/hardees, five guys (messy alert), jimmy johns unwich wraps.

single serve packages of nuts, plus eggs, nut butters, pepperoni. For at the hotel, I usually pack tuna and sardines - I have something if I need it, but it keeps well, if I end up bringing it home. Also, If you gas up at a Racetrack or 7-Eleven, they usually have packaged hard boiled eggs - I'm sure other places do too, but this is what's in my area.

Stocked up on a lot of the above, thx. Yes, the unwich is really good. I asked for extra meat since I wasn't eating bread since it's the same price but they said that would be extra.

At several Huddle Houses they have traded me two more eggs if I pass on all the carbs in a menu item. Denny's was very easy to work with last Monday evening and the price reflected passing on the carbs. CookOut chain will give more onion and tomato if one leaves off the bun on a sandwich.
I think things are changing for the better if one eats low carb.
