Oh my gosh! I can't believe it! I was checking to see if there was a C25K group...cause there should be! Haha.
Never dreamed I would find a group with folks so close to the same day as me!!!
I'm 54 and NOT a runner either, but would love to be!
    This is my first time doing C25K. I'm 5' 6'' and 198.5.

From what I read in the tip info on the C25K app itself, it's better to make sure you have good techniques..running and breathing, to avoid injury down the line.
I finished W1D2 yesterday and I really concentrated on breathing with my stomach and only inhaling and exhaling through my nose so that I get the correct breathing down. (I am a chest breather, through my nose and exhale through mouth...all wrong for running apparently!)

Thank you for starting this group!

That is awesome!! Welcome! I didn't know that about the breathing! Thank you!!

Hi! I'm Laura, I'm 29 years old and 285 pounds as of yesterday... When I started running this summer I was 302. I'm about to finish W6D3 tomorrow and I can't wait. It's such an encouraging program - if you stick to it you'll be amazed and how far/long you can run. I know I am

That's so great to hear Laura! Since you are so far ahead of me (I'm on W2D1 yesterday), do you have any tips or advice you could share?

If you do, I already started a "tips" thread for the group and would love it if you could share your wisdom there or PM me.

Thanks Jamerz! I started eating better too because I'm on vacation for the summer and surrounded by fresh and healthy foods, and because I found crummy eating made running harder. I'm not working this summer, so I have made running a big focus. And water! The exercise has been a huge part of it but drinking tons of water has been as or more important, I think.

Cycletrak I did that, posted what I could think of at the moment in the tips thread. Thanks for being so welcoming!

Hi! I'm 245 pounds. I'm not a runner but use to be a million years ago. I wanted to run a marathon, had started running again & then life happened . . . instead I gained 100 pounds over the past 10 years. Now, I'm 37 and I'd like to run a 1/2 marathon (secretly a full marathon but a 1/2 sounds attainable) when I'm 40. So, I started walking but have no clear plan to success other than a plan to do a 5k turkey trot on Thanksgiving.

Hello. I'm Claudia. My 11 year old son and I will be starting the program on Monday. We're still in the 90's here but this weekend it will be dipping down in the 80's as highs. I can't wait to start.

I am using the Fitness 22 app. I really like it. However, the distance is not very accurate. My last run it said I went 16km. Ummm....nope!

Hot and humid here today! Next week is looking great, but that won't help for my run today! Lol! I'm pushing on through the heat! :)

It's been hot and humid here as well. I'm in Illinois. I'm looking forward to it cooling off!

I am in South Dakota. I am looking forward to it getting cooler also, but NOT looking forward to winter!! Brrr! It gets pretty cold here sometimes, but the wind is the worst part!
  • Hi all, I'm doing the colour run here in Brisbane this December. I don't like running, never have, but every so often that 'quiet little voice' tells me to 'just run'. So I have committed to completing w1d1 tomorrow.

Hi. Day 1 was an absolute shocker for me tbh. I did it twice before moving onto day 2.
I got a sharp pain in my calf during day 1, which was tender for about 2 days, sore shoulders and a stiff back. I was obsessed with watching the timer just so I could walk. The 2nd time I repeated day 1, I remembered to relax my shoulders and I didn't get any aches in my calves, back or shoulders.
W1d2 my feet are still a little unsure of themselves, but I figured I will never be a graceful runner anyway. Good luck and have fun.
Edited just to mention waiting for the 'walk' prompt didn't bother me as much on my second w1d1.

Hello! My name is Cheryl and I live in San Diego. Just started C25K today (for the second time- didn't make it past week 2 last time before it got way too hot!) and feel AMAZING! I really hate running, but I WANT to love it so much! I used to be in the Navy so I know I can run because I did it before, although I rarely did more than my 1.5 miles required. Haha!

Been doing some research on running today and found a blog post about a guy who made a commitment to run every single day and had made it to 50 when he wrote the post. It inspired me and I want to be able to do that, but I was completely wiped this morning after W1D1 C25K, so I think I'll just make it a goal to at least walk 2 miles a day, on my off days from training. I have done a few 5Ks this year, but have yet to run an entire one. My last one, last Wednesday, I saw this lady who honestly tried to run it a lot more than I did and I felt inspired... so here we are!

Thanks for having me in the group!

Hey there! I'm Ashley. 25 years old, lost 35lbs with MFP, gained a few back, & working on burning them off again. Just did my first C25K workout last night! It was a little hard, but not bad. I used to use an inhaler in high school basketball, so I'm not sure if I will need that or not.

I will be doing my C25K workouts every other night - what do ya'll think of that?

  • @Cherylannwho I used to be in the USAF so I know what you mean about "knowing" you can do it. There are some great YouTube videos about running technique that I think really helped this week! I finished W1D3 today, but will probably do W1D3 again before moving on to W2. I don't want to over do it....
    Hi @ashleybreanna13 ! Welcome

Hi, I just started C25K this week and today I just did W1D2... needing some online motivation just to keep myself accountable and to meet some new people with the same goals. I need to lose about 50-60lbs which I gained from a huge move. So getting on track and going to nail this C25K I am nothing but determined..lol. Good luck everyone.
